The only risk here is the portion's rather large, so you could find yourself stuffed if you try get thru all of it. I couldn't resist eating the rice dunking it in the soup and soba broth. (Also great way to learn the fantastic word oishii - tasty)

The Tenya restaurant chain is a good value if you like tempura on a budget. The menu is a bit busy -- there's even chicken -- but skip all the temptations and just ask for the original "All Star" that includes a shrimp, mushrooms, clam, squid, pepper, lotus and comes with soup. The pricier items aren't always as satisfying...

Fuss-free and affordable. Offers many combinations of tempura with different ingredients, including some seasonal ones. Food and service were decent when I visited, and one of the employees (non-Japanese) could converse in English too. Better to order in moderation, as all the fried stuff can fill your stomach...
