Such a charming DELICIOUS find! We stumbled across Tentou because the original tempura restaurant we’d researched before our trip was closed. I saw it had good reviews so we gave it a shot—I’m so glad we did! The front door on the corner was well-disguised but we peaked inside and were met with the greatest hospitality and service. The mixed seafood fritter option (Kakiage) was comprised of insanely delicious, naturally sweet mussels, clams, and shrimp. This is a slightly heavier style of tempura than the extremely light and crisp type, but it was honestly one of our best meals in Tokyo. And the kindness of the chef and waiters made you truly feel like you were supporting a good...

Tentou Tempura Restaurant offers a tempura with a slightly heavier batter than the usual crispy, airy style, this is a common difference amongst tempura restaurants. Despite this, the flavours and texture were good. We opted for the set meal, which came with a delicious selection of fish, prawn, shrimp, and vegetable tempura, accompanied by rice, pickles, and miso soup. The presentation was beautiful, with each dish served in lovely bowls that added to the experience. Portion sizes were just right, and the staff were warm and attentive. Overall, a satisfying and...

Waited 30 minutes in line for this over 100 year old restaurant. I know the style of tempura is different from the crispy and light version. I sat at the bar and had the cooks in front of me preparing my food. I had the tempura rice bowl. It wasn’t cheap for a few shrimp on rice. The shrimp were big but although that style of tempura has a sauce added on top of it, I found the batter heavy. For those who say it’s the best tempura they ever tasted, my advice it to keep tasting. Rice was definitely the highlight. Cooks didn’t even acknowledge you but...
