This is the Cafe outpost of a shop in the Shinjuku NEWoMan department store that specializes in azuki (what we usually know as red beans). The wagashi (traditional Japanese snacks usually served with green tea) and kakigori (shaved ice) served here naturally feature this ingredient. I had their seasonal kakigori, a mandarin orange-syrup with white azuki concoction. Their usual flavor is green te with either red or white azuki. Get the small size--this is dense kakigori and they include a generous amount of azuki, which is quite filling. The shop is very well designed, good visibility over sweets and had plastic models to see how each would look like outside package. The shop also included a special exhibition explaining Japanese methods of preserving food - very pretty and informative.
Staff were very friendly and polite, and can speak English very well. We really enjoyed our time buying these sweets.
