I visited a standing-style umeboshi shop in the nearby Solamachi area, where I was recommended to check out a set meal restaurant in Asakusa run by the same company. At the umeboshi shop, I was given a mysterious description: “Think of it as a late breakfast or an early dinner,” which piqued my interest enough to give it a try.

As for the shop, most of the products they sell are nearly identical to what you can find at the umeboshi shop, so there’s not much of a unique factor in that regard. However, the set meals are generally delicious, and their monthly special dishes are particularly good. While I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, nothing I’ve ordered so far has been disappointing.

If I had to point out a complaint, it would be about how slow the turnover can be. This might be because of the customers or the shop itself, but at times, about half the patrons seem to shamelessly sit and chat endlessly even after finishing their meals, which seriously impacts the flow of the restaurant.

On the second floor, there’s a valuable rest area that is usually quiet and peaceful unless there’s an exhibition going on. Sometimes, it’s completely empty, making it a great place to relax.

Other than that, my only major dissatisfaction would be the operating hours, as they close rather early. This is perhaps the biggest...

Enjoyed the breakfast experience here a lot. They offer the simple breakfast or their ume tohoshi special. The special includes everything from the simple breakfast plus three side dishes, which is determined by drawing a stick (1/7). The sticks correspond to a specific japanese common diety, which they then place a little figurine of in front of you to keep track of which side dish set you got. Cute concept, adds some fun to the dining thematically. Also you choose from 1/16 different kinds of pickled plum. Here we were completely lost as each plum had a specific flavor profile...we just asked for their recommendation.

In the end it is a neat and unique dining experience with impeccable service. Be prepared for a...

Even though we had to wait around 45 mins, it was totally worth it and would go again. Food was outstanding and different. Staff was very friendly even though their English was very limited. They had menu in english so we could pick easily. Sake was very good and generous. Plum juice delicious as was the Miso soup. The egg is like a mousse texture, something I haven't tried anywhere else and very good . We tried the fried chicken and the pork menu. Highly recommend it We took our kids (4 & 6 years old) and even though we thought it could be not very kid friendly we were totally wrong as they really enjoyed the food and the experience of...

Highly recommended breakfast place. I had the otomo mikuji set meal, which offers a creative concept of leaving your side dishes to luck. There are 7 different combinations you can draw from, of which I got the first one. The kimchi, whitebait, and ginger beef were all delicious, not to mention the freshness of the rice and the heartwarming tonjiru soup as well as fluffy egg. For those who don’t like sour tastes too much, the sweetest ume is a good choice; it’s definitely not too sour, but it was very salty. Good thing they offer free rice refills. Overall, very reasonably priced and very filling.

A very nice place to try Japanese breakfast! It's nothing better than a warm and well prepared meal in the morning. For the meal, you get to draw from 7 lucky gods, each of them represents a different set of meals. If you don't like what you draw, you have the option to draw again or pick what you like. The plum on the top of the rice, you can choose from sweet to medium to sour, and it tastes good! Rice is refillable, everyone I saw at least refilled once tells how good the rice is!
