The rooms were fairly nice and the hotel was in a good location, however, the staff of this hotel did something absolutely terrible to me. I have a very significant and special baby blanket which I have owned for almost my whole life (over a decade), and unfortunately I left it in our room. My family and I realised about an hour after leaving, and, just before the plane back to our country left , we emailed them. About 12 hours later, they replied saying that they found it and were keeping it safe. We stressed tens of times how important the baby blanket was and they assured us that they would be careful with it. They refused to send it back to us even after we offered to pay, so we organised for a friend who was holidaying in Japan to pick it up after about roughly 1.5 weeks. To our horror, when she got there, she told us that the hotel no longer had the blanket and couldn't find it. Imagine how I felt when I was told that, something that carried over a decades worth of memories and moments and something that stayed with me through every bad moment including long and difficult visits to hospital, was lost forever, and after telling this hotel and the staff multiple times how important it was. To be so honest, I have been crying almost every night for weeks and having difficult sleeping at night. It pains me that I cannot do anything about it. The situation is still unfolding but the hotel takes a while to reply to each email and has told us they don't believe they can find it. I am so disappointed that something I have had for so long, something that was supposed to be the "something old" at my wedding, is lost due to something I cannot control at all. They have refused to keep looking and will not return my emails or my attempts to contact them. Please don't stay...
Read moreFamilies traveling with children need to be warned. I was disappointed with our stay. I was irritated by the breakfast policy. Even though I did the check-in process for the six members of my family, scanning all those passports and entering ages of everyone, they said that breakfast was only for the two adults. Even when I tried to have my kids join us for breakfast so that I could share the set-menu breakfast with them, the staff asked them to get out of the chairs even though there was no one else there so some kids had to eat standing. “Breakfast included” was a factor for me when choosing the hotel as it was one of our more expensive Tokyo hotel options.
If X number of guests are in the booking, the price should have been adjusted accordingly. This is what happened everywhere and it didn’t even occur to me that breakfast would be for just two. The (adult) set menu breakfast is very generous so I think I good compromise would be to serve a smaller, simpler “Kids Breakfast” for the third or more guest in a room.
The morning we left, I overheard another family complaining about the same thing. They called it a “family suite” but they obviously don’t like families staying with them!
Asakusa Kaede hotel was also the only hotel that required me to do all that work to check-in before I arrived. It took me a long time to add all that information for the six of us. All the other hotels happily looked at our passports when we checked-in.
Otherwise very clean and...

The location is A+++ and couldn't be better for seeing Asakusa and neighboring cities. It's right next door to the main path of Senso-ji Temple, yet our street and the inn managed to feel quiet and all our own. It's located right in the middle of blocks of endless shopping and what feels like hundreds of restaurants and izakaya. The close proximity to Asakusa station let us visit the neighboring cities of Ginza and Akihabara very easily--multiple trips in a day were possible! And of course there's beautiful Senso-ji itself, which is magical in the early mornings and evenings before/after the crowds. The amenities were excellent with modern bathrooms and super comfy beds. Rooms were a good size and accomodated large luggage. The japanese breakfast was delicious and was made specially for us each morning at a time of our choosing. There's a lovely little sake and whisky bar downstairs waiting for you when you come back, too! A special thanks to Sindy for being a wonderful hostess. She helped us ship our luggage to Kyoto, but more importantly, she made us feel so welcome by visiting with us and sharing stories. We will be back someday if we could be so fortunate. Thank you, Asakusa...
