Venu's South Indian Dining Okachimachi — Restaurant in Tokyo

I was looking for a place to enjoy some really authentic South Indian food in Tokyo, and I came across this restaurant called Venu’s. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of the dishes they served. The size and proportions were huge, and I could barely finish my plate. I tried the Dosa, which is a thin and crispy pancake made from rice and lentil batter, served with coconut chutney and sambar (a spicy vegetable stew). It was delicious and filling, and I loved the contrast of textures and flavors. I also had the Uthappam, which is a thicker and softer version of the dosa, topped with onions, tomatoes, and green chilies. It was spicy and tangy, and very satisfying. For the appetizers, I ordered the Medu Vada and the Idly. The medu vada is a deep-fried doughnut-shaped snack made from urad dal (black gram), and the idly is a steamed cake made from rice and urad dal. Both of them were soft and fluffy, and went well with the chutney and sambar. I especially liked the medu vada, which had a crispy exterior and a soft interior.

I don't know much about what constitutes as authentic South Indian cuisine, but this food is without a doubt DELICIOUS.

The C-set comes with the most varieties of curries. All sets come with rice and your choice of bread (nan, dosa, etc.) The rice is honestly disappointing - dry in some parts, watery and clumpy in others. But that is only a small drop in what is a cosmos of phenomenal flavors and savoriness (AKA the rest of the plate)

Although most of the curries are the same each time, a few change depending on the season or perhaps on the whim of the chef. Regardless, each one has it's unique taste and texture, and are all pleasing to the palette.

Between Venu's and Kerala Bhavan in Nerima, these two spots are definitely the best I have...

8月15日ランチ 近くに行ったので久々のランチは、ここと決めていきましたが… クーラー故障？？店内暑い！入口に送風機？置いて有って風が流れてます。 又、去年と同じ様な状況(笑)で、クーラー効かない、暑い！ 店内暑くてひたすらハンカチで汗を拭います。

いつも入口や店内に飾って有るランチメニューのカレーの種類の掲示が有りません。 やはり無いと不便です。

ビリヤニにするか迷いますが、【ダムビリヤニセット】カレーはチキンで注文。 ビリヤニにはチキンが沢山入っていて、独特のライスも美味しいです。 〆は、大好きなチャイ。 次回は、もう少し涼しい環境でランチを楽しみたいです。
