Review: Not Worth the Hype
Coffee Quality
The coffee is overwhelmingly diluted, with more water than flavor. Despite being a light roast, the flavor is so weak that it feels like drinking flavored water.
This café seems to prioritize aesthetics over the quality of its coffee, catering to customers looking for an Instagram-worthy moment rather than a great cup of coffee.
The accompanying cake was also disappointing, lacking both flavor and texture.
Ambiance
The interior is uncomfortably cramped, creating a suffocating environment.
Small wall mirrors do little to improve the feeling of limited space and fail to make the café more inviting or comfortable.
Service and Expertise
The baristas seemed inexperienced, and the coffee preparation lacked finesse.
Given the results, even an average coffee machine could likely produce better quality coffee.
The experience was neither pleasant enough to enjoy on-site nor good enough to justify taking away.
Overall Impression
This café appears to be more of a social media hotspot than a genuine destination for coffee enthusiasts. While it might appeal to those who prioritize appearances, it falls short in terms of coffee quality, ambiance, and service.
Suggestions for Improvement
Focus on enhancing the flavor profile of the coffee and improving brewing techniques.
Consider redesigning the interior to create a more comfortable and inviting space.
Invest in staff training to ensure a higher standard of service and preparation.
For those looking for a memorable coffee experience in Ginza, there are better options available. This café might be suitable for a quick photo opportunity, but it doesn’t live up to its...
Read moreX Coffee is located not far from other established coffee places like Bongen, Glitch, Roar, etc. Whilst the inside looks aesthetically pleasing, other comments may not provide a true reflection of what to expect. Firstly, the queues system is a bit archaic. Not exactly sure where to stand and wait as you can’t stand in line inside. People order coffee one by one and then scatter outside making it difficult to understand who’s in a “queue” to order or not. The gentleman at X was quite rude. There was one customer in front of me and he told me to go outside and wait. During my visit, a number of people pushed in front of others unknowingly. Secondly, when it’s your turn, they don’t actually call you in. You’re just apparently expected to know to walk-in. There is no explanation of the wash coffee menu, notes, strength, origin etc unlike Glitch. When ordering, they don’t take your name which is really annoying. They walk out holding the coffee aimlessly trying to remember who ordered it. The coffee took about 30 mins to arrive. Coffee: quite weak and very milky. Can’t really taste the washed beans as you would have hoped for. The service could be better...
Read moreThe coffee here is fantastic. I am a purist when it comes to drip coffees, and they definitely take great care when doing their pour overs. Their bean selection is top notch. I tasted their CGLE Las Margaritas bean from Columbia and it was clearly refreshing. A light color drip with the perfect temperature shows me that they know not to over extract their coffee. The tastes are very clear, each flavor easy to taste, with my coffee tasting with a bit of lime, and spice. I may not know what bergamot is as a spice but I can definitely taste a hint of the spice come through without being overwhelmed. The duo here who were at the shop running it were extraordinarily nice, professional, and knowledgeable. They speak English so this is a great place for foreigners too. It is a very small place so you may need to wait for a seat but it’s well worth it.
If you are a coffee snob, and want to taste the purity of coffee with a really good drip technique and beautiful beans, come here.
Coffees aren’t cheap but you get what you pay for. If you balk at the price, then perhaps a place like detour or Starbucks might be...
