I don't really write a bad review, but this store deserves one. I brought my clients to have dinner in this restaurant. They really want to eat Japanese foods. I saw the pics, the restaurant looks really nice atmosphere. But, I was wondering why the review is not that good. But I don't wanna believe that. So I give a try to eat in this restaurant.
It turns out, THE BAD DINNER EXPERIENCE IN JAPAN! I feel bad to my clients because they flight far away to Japan and got bad experience.
We ordered a lot of foods, and his daughter ordered 2 shrimp roll. It takes an hour to get that food! We asked to the staff like 3 times but she said, they will bring to us. It turns out, never coming to us.
My client asked again for the forth times because her daughter needs to eat. One woman staff with short hair keeps telling us "15 mins more". But it's never coming and she said "you can cancel". I mean after an hour and my client's daughter haven't eaten anything.
The woman staff with short hair was so RUDE! Is this Japanese service? We waited for an hour for shrimp roll, and she didn't say sorry instead yelling to us because we asked about our foods many times. Is that normal right to ask our foods because it takes so much time.
Finally the food coming but only 1. We ordered 2 shrimp rolls. I think she just forgot to order our foods, and make an excuse that it needs time for shrimp roll. 1 hour, really?
She didn't even say sorry and just yelled back to us. Instead, another staff said sorry to us. Thanks and I really appreciated to another staff who has good manner in front of my clients. I feel bad actually to asked many times about our foods but I wanna entertain my clients. I will not come and bring any clients to this restaurant. Be careful, please avoid this restaurant if you wanna feel happy after dinner. Instead you will be bad mood afterwards.
And one more, we ordered a rice. It takes 15 mins! We keeps asking third times and finally she took the rice from the kitchen after we keeps asking where is our rice.
Such a shame! No wonder the restaurant is not popular even though...
Read moreI have been coming to Japan for 30 years and Tofuru Ginza may have been the single most dismal eating experience ever. We are not Japanese but our friend who booked the table reservation (that they could not find) is. Clearly they are understaffed, which likely has lead to the remaining staff being overworked and mostly indifferent to great hospitality. Food that did arrive was medicore at best and took so long to arrive…if it did at all! After thoroughly enjoying 15 days in Japan this time and having some of the most beautiful eating experiences from fine dining, izakaya, yatai, traditional ryokan meals, western hotel breakfast buffet and even convenience stores (Lawsons, Family Mart and 7-11), we are hoping out last day tomorrow will make us forget tonight’s meal. I hate writing this review…thank god the beer was good. Of note, we cancelled our last 4 orders because we were nearing 2.5 hours and no end in sight. The “call” button did not work ever and politely asking for help was met with “wait”. Our bill included one item we never received and 5 items we never ordered but were charged for. I don't recall ever paying for complimentary appetizers that are typical of Japanese restaurants. Overall, we paid about ¥2500 more than we should have but could not wait to get...
Read moreVery climatic restaurant. Prices are what you'd expect in Ginza, slightly higher than your usual, but you can realize why they are such once you get there. They literally recreated a small Japanese village in there (see attached videos). Many rooms for up to 6 people for which you can close the doors, lots of nooks to hide in the corner, and an antresola too. I was invited there by a Japanese friend and sure did enjoy the atmosphere. It is on B2F though, so you have to take the elevator or stairs to the deep basement.
Menu is in Japanese with English subtitles, IIRC (can't remember exactly). As for the food, it is tasty but for my perhaps unrefined taste it wasn't anything unusual. I had the shrimp&vegie tempura set, some yakiniku and Maki-dachi. The sweets were exceptional though , oh boy, the matcha flavoured warabi-mochi was just mouthwatering (and it is part of the tempura set). Also, tea and water is free, as you'd expect in Japan.
All around, it's a great place to have a chat with your friends, but it's also an Izakaya so you have plenty of separated single bar seats along the counter as well (see...
