Experience Autumn and Winter season dining and drinking in Shinjuku in a tiny bar.

This is a tiny oden shop located in the Omoide Yokocho near Shinjuku Station. Omoide Yokocho is often referred to as a drinking alley but is better referred to as a narrow street lined with many little shops that serve local food and Japanese alcohol. Personally, I have been coming here for a few years now for their excellent Oden and Japanese sake. Oden is a traditional hot pot one dish consisting of various ingredients such as boiled eggs, Daikon, Konjac, and weiners marinated in a soy dashi broth for hours. Real Japanese comfort food.

They asked to order drink first and make sure one person order at least one dish, which was fine but the drink never came until we asked them to check. They brought food and asked about last order before we received first round of drinks. Service charge was 500 yen with a small appetizer, which normally is fine with me but considering their service level, I personally did not feel pleased about the 5 bucks. Our first night in Tokyo we had our dinner at Yasubee @ Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku. We love the izakaya here and it accommodates the kids too. From start to finish we had very tasty grilled intestines and liver, fresh sashimi, slightly grilled puffer fish shirako, uni with scallop and flounder, then finally sukiyaki with matsusaka beef.
