Amazing spot for a meal! I happened upon this restaurant because I was staying nearby but I’m really glad I did. It has a great diner vibe and the fact that it’s been here for decades makes it feel really special. I sat at the counter near the open kitchen and got to watch them flambéing and prepping different meals. I’m a big fan of Japanese style western cuisine and got the beef stew with the corn potage. We ordered beef stew, fried oysters, and bacon & eggs. The oysters were fresh, although the tartar sauce was a little flat. Eggs and bacon were cooked together and tasted quite nice.
The beef stew was subtle and deep in flavor, with a rich sauce, perfectly slow cooked beef, carrot and button mushrooms. I ordered it with white rice, but my companions got toast which was the better choice. Dipping butter toast into beef stew in an alleyway shop in...
