I passed by the store and was so happy to see cute pigs since I never interacted with them before, so I changed my entire day schedule to drop in. The pigs are really cute, and thatโs what I thought before I actually went in. I thought that if I posted this review the store would be shut down. They tell you to sit on the ground with a blanket on your lap and the pigs climb on you and you can pet them. The pigs started sniffing and chewing on my clothes and hair and climbing under my skirt - if you havenโt seen pigs before which I hadnโt, theyโre always sniffing and licking the ground and trying to eat whatever is in front of them since they have poor eyesight. I was fine with it as a germaphobe UNTIL the living nightmare started. A bunch of pigs just started peeing and pooping. The staff is decent about picking it up before it builds up, but the smell is really horrible and that is why they call it a pigsty. They opened the windows but itโs not nearly enough at all. Usually petting zoos are outdoor with a lot of fresh air. This place is in a closed space and the smell knocks you out. Besides the smell, the pigs started eating the poop and rubbing their noses all over it. And on the ground outside the litter area there are pee streaks. And on their bodies too. After that I wanted to burn all of my clothes as well as my hair which the pigs were licking and rubbing their noses on and probably just burn my entire body too. Because theyโre covered in their own pee and poop and rub their noses all over you thinking youโre food. Of course I left early and canceled the treats so I never fed the pigs either, and I didnโt want to pay at all after this, but itโs a low entrance fee compared to other animal cafes. And at the cashier on the entrance level, the pigs there started pooping right next to the register. (And no one picked it up)
Really bad sanitation, almost passed out from disgust as a germaphobe, not so fun to pet either. 3 stars for service since the staff were cleaning poop constantly and doing so without even...
ย ย ย Read moreWe loved almost every moment here. Jean the piglet was a notable memory; he snuggled me for 20 minutes straight and fell asleep in my arms, which was a dream come true. Pig piles galore, friendly staff, lots of piggies available to pet and cuddle - it was almost perfect.
A word of caution, when you're feeding the bigger pigs upstairs on the outside deck, be cautious of your fingers. There is an aggressive black piggie that likes to jump for carrots and we left with a bitten finger and some substantial blood loss. Nothing a little pressure, antiseptic fluid, and some bandaids couldn't fix, but it put a damper on an otherwise perfect visit. The staff was wonderful and immediately helped with medical care, apologies, and reassurances that all pigs were vaccinated and healthy, if a little over zealous.
Despite the injury, we would 100% recommend a visit and if we were in Japan longer we would definitely have spent even...
ย ย ย Read moreUnfortunately this is a terrible place! Inhumane, uninviting and deplorable! The pigs are all in a small brick room and there is pig urine all over the floor and excrement in the corners of the room. There is nowhere to sit down, unless you want to sit on the urine-filled cushions on the floor. The staff were uninterested and stayed away completely, not helpful to us or interacting with the pigs. The only time they came near the room was to push the pigs back into the room when they tried to escape their prison every time the door was opened (canโt blame the pigs really).
Before payment, staff asked patrons to give a review and then a discount would be given (which I declined to do because couldnโt say anything good about the place and was truly shocked at what I had just experienced). This might give an insight as to why the other comments here are...
