Main Street Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Luang Prabang

When you enter the restaurant is very cosy and warm. We decided to sit upstairs. We were the only people there. We ordered the Moon cake tea set. The presentation of the high tea was very nice. The food on the other hand not so much. The scones were very hard and tasted old, same for the moon cake the red velvet cake was not a cake but more like a paste,that was a pity too. In a high tea you would expect a balance between sweet and savory, but it only had one small brie sandwich and another one with surimi. Instead of the chocolate cookies that were on the description, we were severed a merengue cookie with chocolate in the middle. The staff didn’t come Regularly to check on us. I had to walk down and ask if we could have some more sandwiches. Eventually we were able to place an order for the Brie sandwiches. The visual presentation is okay but the dishes are unrefined and overpriced for what you get. Think untalented amateur chef. Eg a pizza that is rather a huge nacho with only a few tiny spots of cheese and tomato sauce, a fish that has so much chili on it so you are not able to taste the fish anymore, or a salad with a dry cardboard like lettuce that has been in the fridge for a long time. There are many better options nearby. Been there several times but due to the consistent lack of skill we avoid this restaurant from now on. Service was always okay though. This is a very nice restaurant with helpful staff that are very friendly as well. I was excited to taste this burger as it arrived at my table. I was highly disappointed. I’m not sure what they marinated the meat in? It tasted like very strong, fish sauce and soy sauce combination. Both, the mango and coconut freeze/shake that I ordered were very watery. It was a very nice building restaurant, with music and atmosphere, with very high prices relatively speaking. I thought it was going to be good based on all of these conditions.
