This is one of the many small hotels and B&B's in Luang Prabang. It is very conveniently located within ~50m of the busy market street, close to the centre of town and the Mekong River. However, the street where the lodge is located serves as one of the feeder routes to the market. Also, next to the lodge is a property used to offload small trucks. Therefore every morning starting from about 05h30 there is considerable noise from the market vendors moving their goods. We had a room on the first floor facing the street which was OK for us as we're early risers. Everything was clean, the large double bed comfortable and both wifi & A/C working well. The bathroom is clean, simple and functional. Breakfast is included in the room rate comprising a small baguette, jam, cut fruits and eggs to order - perfect to start the day. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Some of them had been monks before so their English is relatively good. Other staff speak only very limited English making communication difficult. For the price this hotel offers very good value which I can recommend particularly for the budget...
Read moreWe came here after a terrible experience with another guesthouse attempting to rip us off and refusing to return my passport. I was shaken up when I walked up the alley and saw this place but was immediately greeted with kindness. We did not have a booking so had the liberty of checking the room first. It was large, clean and comfotable but he best thing was the staff on checkin counter who was so helpful and kind.||We stayed only one night as we were looking for something a little cheaper after over spending and still having two weeks of holidays left! We would've stayed longer otherwise. ||Breakfast was a simple affair but you will find this is the case in Laos. The location was nice and quiet and very close to the night market. The only thing I would say is the pillows were uncomfortable but I did notice a guest receiving a new one the following morning so perhaps they have some others that you could request.||A nice...
Read moreA bit hidden from the busier streets, Lao Lu lodge is in a nice an quiet alley not far from the Mekong riverside. Even though the market street is right around the next corner, it is not too busy. The benefit for us was an available triple room, which is not so easy to find if travelling on a budget. The room was nice and spacious, staff was friendly and most spoke good English. Breakfast could benefit from a bit more choice, as we stayed 5 nights it got a bit repetitive. But there are plenty of food options around, so no worries to find alternatives! Dinner options are huge in Luang Prabang, most days we just picked one of the many nice riverside places. The bike rental and tour office at the riverside is highly recommended (just turn left when looking at the Mekong)! We loved staying in walking distance of all the cozy and beautiful streets...
