I came expecting very little as western food is very hard to replicate in south east Asia, when I arrived the setting and music were relaxing and homely. The staff were warm and welcoming and had a calm demeanour which was contagious. I ordered the minced beef panini, when it first came out I was a bit nervous as there was so much mince meat I feared the taste would overpower the cheese and onion, when I took the first bite I honestly moaned a little, a perfected ratio of the most perfectly sautéed onions along with a lovely layer of cheese throughout perfectly cooked non fatty and non oily beef on a crispy yet light and fluffy bread. On the side was a salad, I typically never bother with the salads but I love a good black olive which was what coaxed me into the salad which I found was perfectly fresh with a gorgeous vinegary but sweet dressing. Food like this is why life is worth persevering. I hate finding places like this while travelling because I yearn for it forever after I have left, I have only enjoyed a dish this much twice in my life. I also was lucky enough to have the carrot apple and ginger juice which I saw made with fresh ingredients right in front of me and tasted as such, and a creamy rich cappuccino that hit the spot just right. I swear I’m never usually this dramatic but this place was one of the highlights of my travels. Congratulations to the owner for bringing your vision to life and executing it so...
Read moreStepping off the bustling streets of Vientiane, I craved a caffeine fix and a chill vibe. Naked Espresso Misay did not disappoint. This cafe had a real pull – maybe it was the promise of "fresh Lao coffee" scrawled on the chalkboard outside, or the inviting hum of conversation spilling out the open doors.
Inside, the space was bigger than I expected. Exposed brick walls and sleek furniture gave it a modern feel, but there were still comfy armchairs tucked into corners that whispered "linger a while." I opted for a seat by the window, perfect for people-watching and catching the afternoon sun.
The staff were friendly and helpful, patiently explaining the Lao coffee options (went for a classic dark roast, delicious!) They even had a menu with a good selection of international bites – perfect for a light lunch or afternoon snack. While I munched on a flaky croissant, I couldn't help but notice the happy buzz around me. A group of friends catching up, a businessman on his laptop, a couple sharing a quiet conversation – Naked Espresso Misay had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
If you're looking for a solid coffee experience with a cool atmosphere in Vientiane, this is your spot. I left feeling recharged and ready to explore more of the city, with a happy memory of that perfect cup...
Read moreI've ventured across all the major hot spots of Vientiane (and Laos for that matter), on the sole mission of finding the best coffee shops to get my fix.
After years of trial and error, Naked Espresso Misay has become the #1 pick of my coffee adventures. Let me explain: their product (coffee) is diligently made and the taste is immaculate compared to alot of competitors (although there is one other that comes close in Vientiane but I'll save that for another time), the service is great and they cater to alot of western tourists (so the language barrier isn't too difficult to overcome), and of course - free wifi AND air conditioning (A/C). A heads up: the price point is significantly higher than what you're seeing in Laos (closer to western prices than other shops), so do be aware that the age old saying "you get what you pay for" is especially prevalent.
Overall, definitely give this place a try if you need a great coffee place to enjoy while you're...
