I've been in Riga basically a day. It's been great so far. Come here if you like architecture. Saw Beer Museum on my travels. Having a few and a) great beer selection b) I'm not supposed to drink because I have gout. I will manage, my problem. I'm on vacation! c) They are playing the soundtrack of my life (and 80's, 90's.. perfection) with videos on a large and small screen. Latvians seem either very reserved or underwhelmed in general, or with Americans. No judgement, I just try to be polite, tip appropriately, and stay in my lane. I've been to six countries so far on this journey (with two left). This experience has been one of the best highlights of the journey. I'm jumping of out my skin on the inside, but can't share it with anyone (solo trip) so I share it here. Thank you Beer Museum, and I'd say keep up the good work, but I know you will. With great love...

The Beer Museum worked well as a late-evening stop, especially since it was directly opposite the AC Marriott.

The convenience alone made it an easy choice, but the place held up on its own merit too. The range of drinks was broad, with plenty of local options to try, and the staff kept service moving without any delay even as it got later into the night.

The interior had a relaxed, unpretentious feel, which suited the purpose — a place to settle down for a few drinks rather than something trying to be polished or over-designed. It did not push itself as a destination bar, but it provided a steady, reliable environment with enough variety in drinks to make it interesting. For winding down at the end of the day, it was exactly...

Beware! I was hesitant to enter the establishment as it is mostly full of tourists, but I did, as I was greeted by the smiling staff. I asked specifically for a couple of cans of IPA takeaway. The staff starts filling an open cup, I ask her if it was takeaway, and she smiles and nods but goes ahead, I think to myself that she would give me a lid. Then she puts the filled plastic cup with beer in front of me. I refused to accept. She wasn't going to give me a lid or in a can or a wrapping paper. I had to carry an open cup to my home 5km away! At the risk of getting embarrassed, I accepted 1 lt of can (oh now she could bring out that water can!) Thankfully, I stopped the bar man from filling in...

I stopped in this establishment the other day with a small group. We came in for a drink after doing some work in the area. It is a small location but nicely decorated and a lot of drink choices. They have a few big screens up that were playing jazz remixes of today's and recent years' hits. Very interesting but for sure different. While our drinks were being ordered, I was taking some pictures (attached). When I was done, the bartender was rather annoyed that I was doing that - tone of voice and mannerisms. Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but I won't be returning with so many other choices in the city. It certainly has a dedicated clientele, but I won't be one of them.
