Casa Argentina Steakhouse — Restaurant in Riga

I had supper the other night here with my wife - loved it. We didn't make a reservation, but were lucky enough to get a seat in the corner by the window. We started with the Casa Cheese Selection which had a nice choice of items. I really enjoyed the cheese on the small hot plate to slightly melt some of the pieces and also had a small depression where honey was heated for dipping - great idea. For our mains, we both ordered steak. My wife had the Ribeye, while I ordered the T-Bone. Both were cooked perfectly to the requested doneness. We also had side dishes of mushrooms, which were also cooked nicely. The only thing I found strange was that my T-Bone was prepared for me, and by that, I mean it was presented to me already cut away from the bone and in strips. Definitely a different way to do things (almost like a lobster tail already broken and meat out hahaha). Nonetheless, it was delicious so I didn't mind. We also received a homemade Lenoncello shot. It was a bit strong, but not bad. It was served in a chilled shot glass, but the liqueur was room temperature. Maybe chill the liqueur too? Our waitress was also very nice and helpful - thanks. I ate here September 2023 with a friend. We had booked online but the reservation which was confirmed was nowhere to be found when we came 19:00. But since it was almost empty we got a table anyways.

For both me and my companion this meal was expensive even for a Steak house. Meat was OK but nothing speciel - we had a mixed plate but could not really see and major differences in the servering. No "showing of the meet" before ordering - just place your order and eat. The temperature was very hot inside and we had one waiter trying to serve us which he did well. But getting a refill of wine or beer was with a loong wait (5 min plus) even with only 5 other tables occupied.

I would never come back here if i visit Riga, based on the pricing it was simply not worth the visit. I had booked based on the fantastic reviews with a clean 5 star title which I simple cant understand they have. Especially not considering how other steakhouses preform in bigger citys in Europe. A spacious eatery on a quiet Old Riga street with an outdoor terrace. The wait staff and vibe give the impression that this place is more tourist-oriented, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The prices are on the expensive side, but the menu has a lot of dishes, and everyone can find something for their taste. For me, that generally is not a good sign, but hey, that is just me. I like more specialized and compact menus. I went there with a few of my friends, and I tried several items from the menu, and we have to say that the only thing that could match the price is the meat. It was good, but surely there are places in Riga where you can find a similar or even better offer for the same price. Everything else did not match the price-performance.
