Avilys — Restaurant in Kaunas

Well, I have expected a lot from this restaurant but I was very disapointed. Beer was fine. Food was quite expansive but did not meet the price value at all. We have ordered Halibut fish but the combination with shimeji mushrooms and sour vinegar-like taste sauce was not very good. We have also ordered pasta for kids and I must say that student on dormitories can make more valuable meal than this for such price (pasta, oil and little of cheese). I would not come back to this place eventhough it looks very well. The worst thing is that we did not get the bill, just the small one from card terminal. Nothing special, apart from the price... This place used to stand out in Kaunas because of the nice home beer, some really unique dishes and high quality which wasn't all that common in Kaunas 5 years ago. They seem to have just reopened after a few years, but sadly, it seems only the prices increased, while the quality decreased. Pros: the bread and butter they brought as a compliment was great. The service is really nice aswell Cons: 4,5€ for 250ml of beer is way too much. Most of the menu is "tourist trap" priced now. We got there just as it opened, as its located down a flight of stairs. Has a nice brewery decor, with a good selection of home brews. But we don't drink beer, so I can't comment on that. Service was friendly, considering they were still setting up. Seafood soup was quite nice, although it had a large helping of dill, which is popular in these parts. I enjoyed the chicken wings, although some may find the salt and garlic too strong. The halibut was beautifully cooked, with a delicate lemon sauce, rice and veg.
