During our Monday walk through Kaunas, Lithuania, specifically on August 11th, thirst and a slight hunger began to set in after several hours of walking and exploring the sights. However, the destination for our stop was no accident. My wife had previously noticed the Holy Donut shop on Instagram, so we decided to see if its virtual fame matched reality.
We settled at the tables in the outdoor garden, which was an ideal choice on a warm August day. The environment, with its modern yellow chairs and a view of the street, felt very pleasant and relaxed. It was a great spot for a short rest, watching the hustle and bustle of the surroundings, and recharging before the next kilometers we planned to walk through the city that day.
The main attraction was, of course, the donuts, so we ordered the classics: a chocolate and a strawberry one. I must say, they were absolutely excellent. Above all, their freshness was noticeable from the first bite – the dough was fluffy, the icings were full of flavor, and overall, they didn't seem overly sweet. It was clear that they truly understand their craft here.
To go with our food, we naturally ordered something to drink – the choice fell on coffee and homemade lemonades. In this regard, the establishment also lived up to its reputation one hundred percent. The coffee was of high quality and well-prepared, and the lemonades were wonderfully refreshing without being unnecessarily sweet. Everything was served quickly and tastefully, which only enhanced the overall positive impression.
If I were to rate the gastronomic side of our visit, I must say that even with the most critical eye, there was nothing to fault. Both the donuts and the drinks were simply flawless. Everything was fresh, tasty, and prepared with a care that is increasingly rare these days. This establishment is an example of how a seemingly simple product can be brought to absolute perfection.
Although I didn't take note of the service details, the entire visit went smoothly and pleasantly; the staff was professional and accommodating. During our roughly one-hour break, we had a great rest, and we even had company at the next table in the form of a friendly pigeon, which was a nice and amusing end to our stop.
Our visit to Holy Donut wasn't just an ordinary snack, but above all, a great way to rest for a moment and replenish our energy. The sugar and caffeine did their job, and we were able to continue exploring the sights and streets of Kaunas with renewed vigor. The establishment thus perfectly fulfilled its purpose and became a welcome part of our daily program.
In conclusion, I can recommend Holy Donut without any doubt. It is a place that fully deserves its popularity on social media. If you have a craving for something sweet and delicious in Kaunas, definitely stop by here. It was a small, but in every way perfect and exceptionally tasty experience that we...
Read moreWent there together with my girlfriend quite a few times and so I have got few things I would like to address. To start off, the donuts them selves. What saddens me is the fact, that there are just a few vegan options. And usually the best ones (Cinnamon with sugar and sugar with gooseberry (our personal opinion)) are sold out before we get there. Prices are a bit pricy considering Lithuanian minimum wage, expecally for what you get. Coffee depends on the waiter. Sometimes it can be the best vegan coffee you had, sometimes the absolute worst. Also, again regarding the waiters, they lack the experience and are not that polite. For example, when we ordered the only vegan donut that was left, we were asked which one is it. And later when we thought of ordering another one, out of the blue we were told that another donut is apparently vegan even though it clearly says it has honey. Regardless, atmosphere is nothing special. Music is too loud and started to annoy us after spending some time there. Overall, a decent place to satisfy you sugary needs, but not a one for a...
Read moreIt’s a big plus because you can find here vegan options for donuts ( in the moment I just saw and tried three of them and hoping to see more vegan options in the future), also they can make a coffee with plant-based milk. However the taste of coffee depends of the waiter, sometimes it can be amazing but sometimes can be really plain. The advice is to, at least make some shorts courses for the new employees about the basics of serving coffee. And please, I can understand that sometimes the workers need to attend some urgencies in their phones, but looking in a profesional manner, they should not browse trough their phones out in the open, staring there for long time. Another thing that I can point out is that they always run out of vegan donuts before the evening and this is why I do not go there so often anymore. The prices are a bit high considering average income. The environment is cozy, not minding the loud music. Personally I prefer the “Holy Donut” which is in...
