Title: A 3 minute Disappointing Experience at Momo Grill, Kaunas
Our much-awaited visit to Momo Grill in Kaunas left us with a mere three-minute experience that was far from pleasant. As fans of their wonderful meals in Vilnius, we were excited to try their offerings in Kaunas. However, this restaurant proved to be utterly unwelcoming for families with young children like ours.
Upon arrival, we had to manage around 10 steps as this place is not wheelchair or stroller accessible and were met with disappointment as there was no provision for our one-year-old infant. Surprisingly, the restaurant lacked a baby chair, which is a basic necessity for a family-friendly establishment. To make matters worse, the place was empty, with five waiters idling around and seemingly uninterested in attending to the only guests in the restaurant.
Our disappointment grew even further when we inquired about a possible menu for children. Shockingly, we were told that Momo Grill does not offer any food for babies or kids. This means no french fries, no pasta, no chicken, nothing at all that could be served to a child. It's almost unimaginable for a restaurant to be so ill-equipped to cater to the needs of families with children.
Here are some notable highlights from our short-lived experience at Momo Grill:
Accessibility: The restaurant is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, as there are around 10 steps to navigate. While this wasn't an issue for us, it could pose a significant problem for some guests.
Unwelcoming Atmosphere: Families are clearly not welcome here. The lack of consideration for the needs of young children makes it difficult for parents to enjoy a meal in peace.
Inability to Serve Children: It is astonishing that a restaurant in this day and age cannot prepare a simple meal for children. It's almost as if they consider children to be some sort of extraterrestrial beings with special dietary requirements.
Poor Staff Management: With at least five staff members idling about while only three customers remained, it was evident that the restaurant's service side needs significant improvement.
Overall, our experience at Momo Grill in Kaunas was nothing short of disappointing. We had high hopes for a delightful family dinner but were instead met with neglect and a lack of consideration for families with children. It's evident that the restaurant has a long way to go in terms of customer service and catering to a diverse clientele.
July 2023 may not show signs of economic crisis in Kaunas, but for Momo Grill, the real crisis lies in their inability to provide a welcoming and inclusive dining experience. We sincerely hope that the management takes our feedback constructively and works towards creating a more inviting and family-friendly environment for future patrons or at least transparently discloses to what type of guests this restaurant is open to so that none of the parties would waste the...
Read moreA disappointing experience.
We visited this restaurant with high expectations, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to them. The most shocking thing was the price of the wine: charging four times the real value of a bottle feels like a rip-off. The prawns with chorizo were clearly frozen and tasteless, a dish that was very underwhelming. The meat dishes, aside from being overly expensive (more than €30 per plate), were surprisingly small. The chimichurri sauce was also far from the real thing. I would suggest the chefs do some research and try the authentic version before putting it on the menu.
The desserts, although decent, don’t justify a price of €7-8, which I find steep for what they offer. The service was adequate, but what really spoiled the evening was being asked to finish our wine quickly at 10 PM because they needed to close, after having spent €170 for three people. This left a very bad impression and felt highly unprofessional.
In summary, I wouldn’t recommend this place, and I certainly won’t...
Read moreLet's start with pros: Food is really of high quality; Interior and utensils kinda stun at first, but when you get the "vibe" of the place - it's alright; Very well-prepared octopus; Cons: Issues with parking. 3 spots "in front of the house", a few around the corner. No dedicated car park for the visitors; Waiters aren't as active as one would expect at the price range of the place (yeah, high). Empty glasses and plates were sticking around for way too long; Poor choice of wines, overwhelming majority go by the bottle; Very limited menu choices, no peppercorn sauce for the steak. Overall, rating from 0 (being worst) to 10 (being best) - a strong 8, hence...
