Amazing Cafe, Semporna, Sabah. — Restaurant in Borneo

The room is quite good. It's clean, has hot water, AC and great WiFi. However, the water pump is super noisy every time someone in the hotel showers... enough to wake you up. So don't plan on sleeping past 6:00-6:30.

The breakfast is what brings the score down. It was awful... and made a few hours before served (seemingly delivered from elsewhere, as it was dropped on my plate in a tied up plastic bag!?). It was dry and a luke warm chicken wing with rice. The dish tasted of nothing, absolutely nothing! I took only one bite and didn't dare touch the room temperature chicken. The coffee matched the food, by being completely undrinkable, as it was super weak. The staff did nothing to help the situation when I told them. One would think in a café, coffee can be easily remade and my food easily replaced, but they were not interested at all. It wasn't a language barrier, as one of the ladies translated for the two others. Just lazy and more interested in chatting together and checking...

Such lovely courteous staff who welcomed us warmly to the hotel after a long diving trip. The rooms were comfortable enough (they could do with a decorative refresh abs some maintenance) but fine to stay for a night or two. The cafe itself downstairs is beautiful, with absolutely delicious cheesecakes (biscoff, tiramisu & burnt cheesecake) - we tried all three during our stay! The staff were even kind enough to give us a cheesecake to replace our breakfast on our way back to the airport as we were leaving earlier than the breakfast service. Lovely little souvenirs for sale also in the corner of the shop....

Came across this while waiting for the boat to take us to our water house. Really scrumptious meals. We tried the chicken pasta, chicken toast and little noodles. Well prepared, well presented and served by excellent and kind staff. While waiting you can search for souvenirs and trinkets. They also have a good collection of bird nests, pastries , coffee and sabah tea. The choice of furniture and decor done by someone who has great taste.
