Hanakoya Flower Café Penang — Restaurant in George Town

A cozy cafe with natural vibes feel when we entered. It’s a cafe with florist behind. Here’s what we tried :

Peanut Butter Crispy Chicken Burger ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall the homemade peanut butter sauce was nice but felt dry when eating this dish. It was an okay but not special dish.

Creamy Thai Tim Yummy with Meat Balls ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Oh this dish is a WIN! It’s so creamy yet full of balanced flavour of spicy and sour of Tom Yum! The chicken meatball were delicious as well. It’s a dish that would make me crave for it.

Fusion Penang Laksa Karaage Spaghetti ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A rare dish in Penang, although not the best among I had because a bit dry up but it is still nice and worth to give it a try for Laksa lover.

Unagi Chazuke ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The unagi were nice not fishy at all. The portion a bit on the smaller side and the dashi soup a little too little (100ml) can’t really cover the rice height.

Penang Coco Tower ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The dark chocolate waffle were nice and aromatic to go with their Belgium smooth Dark Chocolate sauce however their Pu Er Tea Gelato a bit turn down as the taste rather light.

Signature Layer Tiramisu ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We loved this dessert very much. It is rich with espresso coffee, creamy and not too sweet.

Chocolate Gelato ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ To our surprise the chocolate ice cream so rich and smooth we enjoyed it very much.

Gooey Honey Osmanthus Orange ⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s a refreshing drink with hint of Osmanthus flower fragrance.

I’m Sleeping ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cute duck napping on top of your drink. The matcha is rich and thick with milk yet goes very well with slightly sweet fresh coconut drink below.

Flower You ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A very cute drink. Refreshing mint taste with chocolate. Pleasing to eyes and tastebud.

Matcha Latte ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thick aromatic matcha blend well with milk.

Overall it is a very interesting cafe with creative food and drinks. We would definitely like to come to try other dish again. There’s 10% service...

I don’t know if I came on a bad day but my first time here was very disappointing. Love the space and can see so much potential but it feels like a huge waste. Christmas tree was great though. Service was…sad. There were only two girls running the whole show. Didn’t feel welcomed at all, when serving the food the server did not even identify which dish is what. Girl behind the counter spoke so softly I couldn’t hear a single word, she didnt know any of the items on the menu and had to check. Everything I wanted to order was not available. Asked about the Christmas menu, the girl looked at me funny like she never heard about it before. It was as if she didn’t know the menu at all. No connection at all - no greeting, no thank you , no smile, nothing. Perhaps this is because of lack of training or ill preparation.

Food was also disappointing, portion is ok. Ordered the big breakfast as it is hard to screw it up but the only edible thing on the plate were the sausages. Texture of scrambled eggs was good but was tasteless. Croissant is limp, also tasteless. Ketchup tasted kinda weird. So did the chocolate ice cream that came with the Van Gohhh French Toast. Also ordered the crispy chicken tortilla wrap - a bit better than the big breakie but was a bit too salty, sauce was quite heavy. They ran out of normal fries (they ran out of so many things and it was only 1pm) so they replaced it with sweet potato fries which were good. Space seems clean but not the toilet. Don’t recommend to go unless...

Hanakoya Flower Café Penang where flowers meet tea and coffee. I was intro to this cafe, the looks from the outside is as a normal old pre-war building but the inside is what surprise you. At the front part of the cafe is decorated with old nostalgic feeling items and at the back of the cafe is where they do flower decorations and arts. We ordered Hot Americano, cappuccino, two types of tea (forgot what tea😁), croissant and waffles with ice cream. They do serve main dish as well, just that today I only came for the coffee and some light dessert. The coffee tasted good to my liking as the end of the coffee tasted bitter. As for the tea, they are using TWG 1837 tea and the taste is good, I like it a lot. The dessert is yummy. Over all service is good, drinks are good, foods are delicious and the place is nice and cozy. I recommended this cafe and will definitely come...
