3 Days 2 nights stay at Chulia Mansion GeorgetownWe booked 2 superior rooms for 2 nights via trip.com for Rm644.40 or Rm161.10/room/night . We checked in to Room 207 and room 215 upon arrival.Once the door of Room 207 was opened, a bad odour full of stingy smell appeared. We did not care to take action at that moment. We went out for good food. After coming back to hotel to rest, we tried to check whereabout the smell coming from, and to take action by closing the toilet door from that moment thru the night. Sad to say, the stingy smell was still there all night long, and I could not have a good night sleep thru the night while surrounded with bad odour. On top of that, the toilet shower rubber hose was cracked and water rushed out during our shower in day time. The following day, I went to the lobby to tell the hotel lady, all the facts and request to change to another room. The lady checked the hotel computer system and told me that the hotel was fully booked a night before once housekeeping was done, they will give me a new room. That was roughly 12 noon. So, they tell me to go back to stay in room 207 to rest, and to wait for her call.At 12 something , one man knocked on my door and sprayed our room 207 with air freshener, changed the hose and left.By 1pm, I was uneasy and I went to the Lobby to follow up with the change of room. The same lady was watching something like movie her table, I asked her why nothing done to call and inform me to change to a new room. She raised her head and looked at me and said that the housekeeper informed her that there was nothing wrong with the room.At that moment, my temper was up and I told her firmly and repeatedly that i want to change to a new room. The next thing happened was that we were checked into room 315. We were lucky and happy that room 315 has no bad stingy smell. However, the shower hose in the room 315 was rosak then again I told the lobby about the facts. So, moral of my stay is to follow up with the LOBBY all issues and defect in the hotel room that I feel unhappy with. The whole purpose of the stay is to get happiness and relax by paying cash that worth the value, and not wait until check out to complain.Last but not least, room 215 facing the street also noisy due to the sound and noise coming from motorcycle , cars and vehicles during daytime outside street, and also live band, loud music and pub. You can also hear music and live band coming from the roof of Chulia Mansion building itself. Finally, I think if you are a light sleeper this hotel definitely is not...

I have stayed here many times. The hotel closed for the MCO but was re-opened in May 2022 by Moxy, a multi national hotel group. The Tripadvisor entry is the same as it always was and is now totally misleading. The visitor posts which the hotel has highlighted are from the previous regime and are now equally misleading.||||A feature of this hotel was the excellent buffet breakfast presided over by the resident chef. Free breakfast is still advertised but it does not exist. The dining room is closed and so you will have to pay to eat out. Which also means that the free tea, coffee and cookies which you could help yourself to during the day are also gone.||||They still advertise the rooftop bar with a free drink each day. But the rooftop is bar with its friendly and attentive Bangladeshi barman is closed. As is the jacuzzi and free icecream.||||The montage of photographs the company puts up on Tripadvisor still show the breakfast and the rooftop bar and jacuzzi. Deliberately misleading!||||Tea and coffee in the room is now reduced to horrible little three part instant sachets. The advertised electric kettle does not exist. You get hot water from a machine outside in the corridor. Also the free bottled water advertised does not exist.||||There is a flat screen TV, as advertised. All channels are fuzzy and none are English speaking.||||The room safe, as advertised, is there, but does not work.||||Amazing for this day and age there are no USB ports in the room. Redecoration has not happened. My shower had lots of peeling paint. There is a mosque next door so and the loudspeakers can be heard in every room so expect noise just before 9 pm and again at 6 am.||||There are lots of hotels in the area so give Chulia...

We booked two rooms at Chulia Mansion. When I got to the room, the room was not made- bed was used, garbage in the bin, dirty used towels hanging. We notified the reception and she went upstairs to check herself. She came back and offered us a room change, but she was not apologetic or anything. When we got to the new room, there was a ball of hair in the middle of the shower. We dropped off out luggage and went downstairs and showed her the picture. I asked if she can clean the room while we are out for dinner. She gave me an annoyed look and said okay. Again, she did not apologised. When we got back, we realized the shower head was broken, the wall was moldy and peeling. There were garbage and dust bunnies under the bed. I tried to look pass these but when I got into the bed, there were blood stains in the sheets. That’s when we decided to leave and not stay the night. We went down to the reception, there was no body there for a good 20 minutes. As we were waiting for our Grab driver, an employee came back. He offered a room change, but he never apologised for the poor housekeeping. We left and went to another hotel. Very disappointed- I really don’t think they clean…

We stayed 4d3n from 3-6 Aug. Chose this place because of location and that reviews show that Hotel is quite big. Hotel is actually a blk with 4 levels. Breakfast spread is normal. Actually it is better to skip and eat outside. Hotel’s Wifi is painfully slow, lvl 2 and reception, all slow. Forget about loading any video or do video call. The electrical plugs beside the bed also has sparks. One of the ceiling light fused too. Only has a small win. Aircon and shower all ok. Reception with the exception of the chinese girl was not very good. Non Asians asked for bottled water and was given. We asked at counter, waited and was not given. Reception (5th Aug noon to night shift, 2 guys) said will send upstairs and still water was not sent. After 2nd reminder not sent Too. Well it’s just poor service. We did not go for any of their daily drinks or ice-cream and just wanted bottled water, but were ignored. During check-in, was told that room not ready, prior to check-Out we requested for late checkout so that we can have lunch then come back. But they were strict to enforce a 12noon checkout. Pro: location Cons: As read above.

This 3 star hotel is great. The room was clean and amenities provided. I was surprised that two umbrellas were provided in the room, for use considering the rainy weather in December. There are water dispensers in the corridor too, on top of the bottled water provided in the room. You also get a welcome drink that you can redeem from 6pm to 12mn on the rooftop bar. The rooftop bar also has a 8 seater jacuzzi. You can also get free ice cream here. When I was here, the flavours were vanilla and mint and they were pretty decent to taste. I thought one of the highlights was the breakfast. The spread was quite good. There were fruits, dim sum and also nonya kueh. There was an eggs station and the staff greeted you politely with a smile on their faces. It was just such a delightful breakfast experience. Located on Chulia Street, it is easy to get to the good food places. Kimberley Street is easily accessible through a 10 minute walk. Overall, I would highly recommend staying at Chulia Mansion Hotel because of the thoughtfulness of the staff who make your stay here a pleasant one.
