Been trying various JB Bak Kut Teh of late.. and it's been 30:70 so far.. that's 30% good ones vs 70% of average/ dismal ones. And this is not in the 30%.

It was a rainy Monday, 1:30pm and restaurant wasn't busy. Order was fast, and food served in minutes.

I'll say the dry bak kut teh was very average, and the soup version weren't much better. In fact it had a lot of fatty pork belly, and the ribs had very clean cut lines (so I assume it's frozen pork). The soup flavor was strong, but not remarkable. I can't say...

The herbal bak kut teh hit the spot for me because I was so hungry for lunch. The rice has to be like the top 10 rice I’ve eaten in my life, it looks like it had scallion oil and scallions and some salt added to it - i could eat it on its own. The bak kut teh soup was so yummy, and i enjoyed everything but the meat to me was a bit too tough. The oil vegetables(?) 油麦菜 were indeed oily (but q nice?). 凉茶 was ok, and an internal note to not order the lime drink bc apparently it...

I'm not sure about the taste buds of those who loved this bak kut teh. In my personal opinion, it's not bad, pretty good but not something memorable either.

Good because of the tender meat. Soup is more like sauce with some herb aftertaste. I personally prefer ones with strong herbal taste, that's where the kick comes in. You get what I mean?

The vegetarian version is, well, you know... OK lah.....
