Kopi-O-Kosong = RM2.00 1 Bowl of Kway = RM2.00 Egg/Mixed Meats/Organ Platter/ = RM22.00 No Service Charge
This Eatery has regularly been featured in many Top 10 List of JB Eateries. Although not Crowded, there were Noticeably Quite a Few Customers even on a Thursday Morning when I was there.
The Owner is a Senior Middle Aged Chap. I gave him a Friendly Greeting but when I told him the Order like how I mentioned at the Beginning of this Post, the First Thing he did was to give me an Unfriendly Suspicious Look and said:
"We have over 20 Items, I don't think you can finish them. Why don't you order each item 1 by 1?"
First Impression, he didn't feel like the Friendly type with his Suspicious Look at me, so My Mood is already Cut in Half. So he started by saying: "Ok, we have 3 types of Meats here, which one do you want?"
When I told him I would like all 3 of them, he actually REJECTED me, and told me again that I would not be able to finish. In the end, HE ownself decided that HE will customize something that HE thinks I will be able to finish instead.
What was the point of asking me to choose, if its going to end up make me eat what HE wants me to eat rather than choose what I want to eat?
How does the Actual KTK Taste?
The Chilli they have here is Watery and has a Somewhat Deep Sweetish tone to it. It is Noticeably Spicy, Not the Super Spicy bite your Tongue type of Spicy. But it does linger abit and you will absolutely feel it's presence.
I like the Soup Broth here. It has a Nice Braised Taste and a Noticeable Slightly Herbly Undertone. Not very Salty. I feel this Broth is better than Restoran Zoom Cafeteria and because of its Herbal Undertone is Above Average even when compared to the Regular Kway Chup Broths we have in Singapore.
1 Bowl of Kway = RM2.00
Amount of Kway given is Acceptable and they are Smooth. In some Youtube Reviews of this Place, the Owner describe the Kway used in Kway Teow Kia is actually slightly thinner than Usual Kway Teow. Personally I couldn't feel any difference. I also feel this is most likely also a Pre-Packaged Product from some Supplier somewhere.
Mixed Meats/Organ Platter = RM22.00
I like that they garnish this with Crispy Shallots and Pieces of Pork Lard which makes it Very Fragrant with an Additional Crunch. Pork Lard is not added in most Kway Chup places we have in Singapore.
Pig Blood is Firm to the Bite but not Overly Firm like the one I had in Restoran Zoom Cafeteria. This is Nice, but I prefer those with a Softer Texture. So far, the Best Pig's Blood Bite Texture I have had is still 燕記車仔麵 in Hong Kong for now.
Large Intestines were Nicely Braised with a Soft Bite. Compared to the ones I have in the past, I feel these do have a Noticeably Stronger Piggy 豬腥味 Aftertaste than usual.
Lean Pork Meat was Not Overly Dry and has a Juicy Bite with a Very Slight Hit of Saltiness. Pork Belly is not Overly Fatty. Both are not Overly Porky. Pork Belly taste exactly like the Lean Pork Meat but with an Additional Layer of Fat. Not Bad Tasting.
Pig Tongue has a Nice Soft and Tender Bite Texture with an Oily Undertone. The Oil is probably from the Shallot Oil though, not the Tongue itself. I don't think we have Pig Tongue available in Singapore Kway Chup.
Kopi-O-Kosong = RM2.00 Kopi O Kosong has a Decent Taste, but as you can see in the Photo, its a Pre-Packaged Sachet, not Hand Brewed. Nothing Special.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
I really like the Soup Broth here because of its Herbal Undertone which shows some Effort being made to it.
But still, the Main Issue is that I am frustrated with this Eatery who just stubbornly not make what I want. Why does he keep insisting that I will not be able to finish? 最多吃不完我打包 right? He just gave me the impression he thinks I No Money 吃不起 his food.
Hopefully Someday, I will be able to find a Kway Teow Kia Eatery where I can finally order what I wanted smoothly. Very Frustrating Experience with this place.

Read more23 October 2023 7.30am Great start to the morning with a savoury breakfast! Parking was easy at that hour, and tables a-plenty.
Lovely, braised-till-just-right pork and innards (well cleaned) with the right “bite” to the different parts of the pig. Totally LOVED the intestines : Tua Tng Tao (large intestine head), small intestines and Hoon Tng (powder intestines), flavoured delicately with the braising soy sauce.
Also ordered streaky pork, asking specially for the fattier cuts, and they obliged. We also asked for soy sauce braised eggs (it was okay) pig skin (tender yet with a slight firmness to the texture) and pig blood jelly, something that I had not eaten in decades. Perhaps I like it softer, because this was pretty hard, so I guess I won’t be ordering it again.
What’s special is that they fry their own shallots in pork fat - it’s really makes the difference and elevated the meal, with the lovely crunch of both crispy shallots and bits of pork lard.
The only down side is that they don’t have a wide variety of drinks - coffee is 3-in-1, and canned drinks are available. Our meal (including drinks) was RM93.50 (about S$27.00) - very reasonable for the amount we ate! Already planning to go in and pig out...
Read moreCame here to eat. Bought 10 otah from Shiduoli to enjoy with the kway teow kia. After finishing, i still had 4 otah left in my bag. Finished otah were on the table. As usual, I went to the toilet first and wanted to sit down after. The boss saw me go to the toilet. When I came back, my table was cleared and my unfinished otah was thrown away. I asked where my otah was. He asked his staff and all said they didn't know. He said they cleared the table because he thought I had gone away without paying. This was even though he was sitting at the table in front of me and I was asking for the bill before I went to the toilet but nobody chap siao me. Then he made sarcastic remarks about me running away without paying. No choice. Kena settle the bill and he kept saying he thought I ran away. After I walked out, I took my phone out and wanted to shoot a photo to post here. I then walked to my car. I heard a soft lao ban. But nobody came to me. When I reached my car, he was standing outside his shop at the road looking at me but no action. So I drove off. Throw away my otah but never offer to buy back one piece. Then say i ran away without paying. Jialat lah. Never go back again....
