KL Hokkien Mee (Small) = RM11.50 Kampung Chicken (Small) = RM38.00 Plain Water = RM0.60
Total incl Tax = RM56.10
Randomly found this place on Google Maps so I thought I'd give it a try. I liked the look of their Signboard for some reason. There was abit of a minor goof as they forgot my Plain Water though it was quickly rectified.
Anyway, Wow.. OMG the Hokkien Mee Sauce was so Gao and Thick and the Portion for "Small" felt very generous. As a Big Eater like me, this was filling. Tasted so Good!
Hokkien mee is Salty yet not Overly Salty. Oily but 油而不膩. Throughout the whole dish, the Pork Lard is so very Fragrant yet not Overpowering. It was very enjoyable to taste Bits of Crispy Pork Lard alternating with the Smooth Bite-Feel of the Noodles. The Whole dish elevated to another level when paired with their Chilli which has a very Strong Hae Bee taste.
This KL Hokkien Mee is A MUST TRY!!
The Kampung Chicken looked very nice in other people's reviews, however...I didn't enjoy it. Priced at RM38 felt expensive. It didn't went down smooth for me. Cold, not heavily sauced and tasted very Chickeny. I'll be honest this is the first time I'm eating Kampung Chicken. Is the meat supposed to be tough? Because it's Tough. Not as Tough as 老母鸡 but tougher bite feel compared to normal chicken.
Very Strong Raw Chicken taste. The other thing that turned me off was the Chicken Skin as it was so Dry. Compared to the KSL Mall Soya Sauce Chicken I reviewed previously which I could easily finish half a Chicken, I struggled to even finish this one. I'm not a fan of this Interpretation of Kampung Chicken.
The Overall Atmosphere of the place was Friendly though so thats not bad. I wanted to give this 4 stars because I disliked the Kampung Chicken but the KL Hokkien Mee is really so good. In the end, I've decided to give 5 stars because their Signature really is their Hokkien Mee afterall and the place did felt Friendly.
Highly recommend the Hokkien Mee but don't order their Kampung Chicken.

Read moreOur choice of dinner spot after looking through what to have via Google Maps, and saw this very highly rated tzechar and decided to come give it a try.
📑 the waitress taking our order kept asking for us to take the bigger portions while we were ordering, without first seeing how many dishes we were going for, thought that was quite a poor first impression.. Example, we had 8 pax and 8 dishes in total but she still told us to get an entire chicken..
🪑 the table cloth was a very thick piece of seemingly reused plastic sheet, which actually had some stains leftover where i was seated, and probably missed if you aren’t seated.. It also led to many of us feeling warm during the meal since the plastic sheets does trap heat, making the entire experience a solid 1 star during the meal, regardless of how good the meal was.
Food wise, it was generally good without complaints:
🍝 Hokkien mee was the better option compared to the rice noodle, though it’s saddled with lard.
🍗 Kampung chicken came with a good dipping sauce, tender to the bite though it wasn’t anything too unique
🐟 fish head steamboat was okay with a generous portion of fish meat
🐖 sweet and sour pork was good, definitely enjoyed that one
🥬 kailan was good too, filled with lard though
🍹 their drinks were mainly syrup based, far too sweet for us to finish it - wifey only had 2 sips to quench her thirst.
💵 438 RM for 8 pax, definitely not the most affordable, but okay quality, not my first choice if i were to look for a tzechar restaurant, especially with that table cloth (or should i say plastic...

Join the physical queue while u browse the laminated menu. Can be long during peak hours and they will ask if you mind sharing tables when a bigger table is avail.
The savoury noodles are a must-order. Small portion comes with two prawns slices of pork and some cabbage. Sauce is thick and heap on the saucer of chilli with calamansi for an added oomph. The group of 3 sharing the table with us had two large places. It shows for itself. It was mainly local crowd when we went on a Saturday night as its within the Mount Austin area.
Glad they had the sliced fish option besides the fish head for the steamboat. There are about 10 pieces of sliced fish in varying sizes but it’s enough to feed 2-3 pax with lotsa sides. Soup is hearty and you can add on portions of meat if needed. They have the unique fish lips for the adventurous.
Drinks are chilled and they don’t provide ice. Environment is airy and each table is laid with a plastic table cloth...
