TLDR: lousy customer service. Food served mostly lukewarm.
Visited this place because dear sister business superstar family KTV is famous. The food were served fast, but some food were lukewarm, example, fried soft shell crab and tempura soba. the food were probably done a while ago & the miso soup tasted terrible!
There was this Chinese male staff wearing spectacles serving food to us and accidentally dropped the prawn from chawanmushi while serving food to us. He did not apologise but stared at my friend for a while and said “errrrr”. Simply not professional. There is one hour 30 min complimentary for ktv when I order food from this restaurant. At the right hand corner of tv stated the number of minutes left for ktv, it stuck at 76 minutes for damn long. The room also look quite old and dirty. Requested for the receipt before paying payment, saw there is free pudding and asked for it. This same Chinese male stuff replied that the pudding will serve later and the later never happen anyway. 😝
Funny thing is that we can’t use cash payment payment to the ktv staff and need to go down to warakuya just to make cash payment?
my bf went out of the room to request for take away food but waiting for a while, nobody assisted and I have to go out and remind them for takeaway. The same Chinese staff said wait a while ah. Then came into my room gave us 2 plastics boxes and a plastic bag. Come on la, it’s a Monday evening. Got so busy until so damn hard to put the food into the container for customers?
Not sure why people say that the food here nice ktv good etc. according to my own experience, it’s just a waste of time and money travelling to this restaurant and ktv. If google allows me to give a 0 star rating, I would. Oh fyi, this Chinese male staff seems to be in a managerial role but doesn’t...
Read moreI recently visited Warakuya to celebrate my mother's birthday. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite pleasant, but I found the seating arrangement to be quite cramped for our party of six. Unfortunately, since we had made an early reservation, we had no other choice but to accept the seating arrangement. We all had to squeeze onto two single bench, which was quite uncomfortable. I noticed that smaller groups of four people had more comfortable seating options with individual chairs, which seemed more ideal.
Regarding the food, I would describe it as average, just a decent meal. I have dined in other branch, and their dishes tasted significantly better. I'm not sure why there was such a discrepancy in the taste of the same dishes.
In terms of service, I would rate it a 4 out of 5. While the staff was polite, we did have to remind them a few times about our drink orders and other requests, which was a bit frustrating. Perhaps they could consider increasing the number of staff to better accommodate the large number of customers, as the restaurant was quite crowded.
On the bright side, the restaurant did an excellent job with birthday celebrations. They had their own mascot and went the extra mile to make the birthday person feel special.
Overall, my experience at Warakuya was good, but I wish they would improve their seating arrangements to be more comfortable for larger groups. I also noticed that there was ample space in other parts of the restaurant, but it remained empty. It would be better if they could distribute customers evenly to make dining more comfortable. If I were to visit again, I might do so with a smaller group, as I liked the ambiance but found the seating arrangement to be less than ideal. The service was good, but the food left something...
Read moreThis is not my 1st visit to this chain, been maybe 5-6times, but will be my last to this outlet in Austin and perhaps my last to the chain restaurant if they continue the current operation & service level. 1/10 rating for me. 1)Front counter no one, I waited for 5mins, no choice step into & approach the cashier counter to ask if I can take a Q-number, the waiter give a blur look and say wait a while the counter gal is coming. - 1st impression -3pts
