The very first impression is their Japanese-like service attitude. They are super attentive to my needs, and although there was a slight delay in delivering my ramen due to their dedication to providing the best food, they immediately noticed my reaction, and came to explain. Not to mention about other service attitude that's only available at an authentic Japanese shop.
Regarding the food, the dedication they have towards ramen has indeed brought them really tasty ramen that is customised to each customer during ordering. From the taste of broth to the condition of noodle, every aspects are customisable. If there must be something that makes the ramen imperfect, I would say their broth can be very thick, but I think that's a great thing for those who love thick broth, isn't it? Nothing else can be picked when one is asked to say something bad about their ramen or their service.
P.S. Sorry for forgetting to take a photo of the restaurant but I think that their place is obvious enough for anyone looking for it, anyway. I'd gladly provide the review in Chinese language if needed (not Japanese language though, I'm not good at that...
Read moreOn the table is Garlic Tonkotsu with all the trims (RM28.80), Takoyaki (RM10.90) and Gyoza pork (RM9.90 for 5 pieces) from Ramen Hitoyoshi
The Takoyaki was a little small but it's a little special. It feels deep fried and isn't mushy. I actually dislike Takoyaki because of its mushiness but this was alright. The octopus was considered large cubes. The Gyoza was nicely seared and grilled, it had all the crusty bits but again really small in size. It's not wrong to be small as long as it tastes good.
The broth, it's thick and the consistency is not soupy. This was weird at the beginning but it started to grow on me and by mid meal, I loved it.
The huge slabs were good but the pieces weren't so. A bit too gamey that did no justice to the ramen.
Lastly, don't underestimate the size. The portion is small but the wheat grows. Trust me it does and it lasts. All in all this was a really good find and Malaysians should patronize before the neighbors spoil market.

Read moreThere are many Japanese restaurants around Johor Bahru but very few Ramen restaurants. So it was with high expectations when I tried out this Ramen restaurant. But I must say I am totally disappointed with the food. First, the ramen and soup does not taste special, to me it's just ordinary. Second, the serving is very small. I have to take some other food for dinner for a second time. Third, I must say I really marvel at the skill of the chef for being able to cut the meat into such a paper thin slice. The meat is so paper thin that it is placed on the side of the bowl to be visible. Once you drop it into the soup, it shrinks and it's hardly visible because it is such a tiny piece of meat. If what is stated in the review of jk. Wong were true that good reviews were given by customers at the request of the restaurant for a free chicken katsu for previous promotional events (of which I don't know whether it was true and I can't personality verify) , then it defeats the purpose of such reviews as a guide for users...
