Ah, the quest for local delights around JB's KSL Mall led us to Restaurant Sing Li, just a hop and a skip away from the bustling mall. But here's the thing, if you're not a fan of sweltering heat, you might want to think twice, because this place brings the heat – both in terms of temperature and flavor!
This restaurant, or should I say, food haven, is like a treasure trove of culinary options. With numerous food stalls in the mix, we set out to try some of their star players. We ordered the Char Kway Teow, which we heard was the best, curry noodle, and Lor Mee.
Now, folks, I have to be honest here; the food was, well, just so-so. It's like that movie you go into with high expectations, and it turns out to be a letdown. If you're absolutely famished and the thought of walking any farther is daunting, it'll do in a pinch. But if you have the luxury of time and an adventurous spirit, I'd recommend exploring other options in the area.
So, Restaurant Sing Li near KSL Mall, while not a total disappointment, doesn't quite steal the show. It's like a warm-up act, but the main attraction might just be a stone's throw away, waiting to delight your taste buds. Happy food...

The Char Kway Teow near KSL Mall, known for its Ipoh-style take, had me intrigued. Priced at RM 8, the dish is prepared with kway teow, garlic, preserved radish, prawns, bean sprouts, chives, cockles, eggs, dark soy sauce, and anchovy stock instead of the typical pork lard. As you approach, the smoky aroma and sounds of wok action draw you in.
When I tried it, the noodles were chewy and moist, but the signature wok hei flavour was subtle. The overall taste leaned on the lighter side, with the bean sprouts standing out more than the other flavours. However, the prawns were fresh and juicy, adding a satisfying umami kick. Without the richness of pork lard, the dish felt a bit too healthy, leaving me craving a richer, more...
Read more13 April 2024 finally get to try this coffeeshop after seeing the place always full whenever I go KSL. Seating is a bit cram. I like that they serve the food to your table and collect payment at the same time. I had the Curry Chee Cheong Fun (first stall at the corner) with some added ingredients and the CKT. Curry CCF was very fragrant, not spicy and the CCF soft and nice to the chew. Really must try. The CKT is the lighter colour kind. I guess it’s the lighter soya sauce used to fry the CKT. Very good wok hei with lots of bean sprouts in every mouthful, giving it a good crunch to the bite. There are 2 or 3 medium size prawn (eat until forgot how many prawn). The kway teow texture is good and not mushy. (Alamak forgot how much I paid) Will try the other stalls when I go there next time....
