This Modern Kopitiam is located near to the Daiso. Its Nicely Renovated and Cleanly Maintained with a Dark Green Colour Scheme. The Background Music they play here are Modern Chinese Pop Songs and has a Chill Chill Vibe to it.
It wasn't particularly crowded when I was there at 10.24am on a Friday Morning although it quickly filled up. Staffs are Polite and Friendly and keep to themselves. Both Dishes were served up Very Quickly within 1 Min after I ordered.
BC213 狮咬虎 Sai Kar Ho = RM7.90
Ho Kar Sai 虎咬狮 aka "Tiger Bite Lion" is a Beverage that is a Mixture of Coffee + Milo/Chocolate that is believed to come from Taiping, Perak. And so Tombalek, we have Sai Kar Ho 狮咬虎 "Lion Bite Tiger". Hahaha! I've never heard of this before, and I don't know if this is a Unique Invention of this Kopitiam or not. This is a Mixture of Milk Tea (Teh) + Milo/Chocolate.
I feel that the Teh and Milo compliments each other very well. The Main Taste is a Teh Peng with a Nice Milky Tea Taste, and the Milo only comes sneaking in as a Subtle Aftertaste and doesn't try to Dominate the Tea. I thought the Mix here was a Nice and Refreshing Combo.
PS02 班兰椰丝芝士刘新蛋糕 Ondeh-Ondeh Bake Cheese Lava Cake = RM14.90
This is one of the Most Highly Raved Dishes on Google Map Reviews. Its not a Big Cake. About a Palm-Size and slightly more than an Inch in Height. I thought it was just nice for 1 person. It was served Warm and is a Soft and Spongy Pandan Cake with a Eggy/Cheesy Cream Filling. The Top was Very Generously Topped with Coconut Flakes and Drizzled with some Gula Melaka Syrup. When you break it open, the Eggy/Cheesy Cream Filling generously flows out like a Lava Cake.
Even though it calls itself an "Ondeh-Ondeh", it tastes nothing like an Ondeh-Ondeh. There are Zero Mochi Texture anywhere. Inspired by the LOOK of an Ondeh-Ondeh, but not the Taste of it.
The Pandan Flavour is actually Not Strong and in fact Very Faint. When you bite into it, the First Thing you'll notice is the Soft and Easily Collapsible Bite Texture of the Pandan Sponge Cake with Plenty of Coconut Shreds Chew.
This is followed by a Shot of that Eggy/Cheesy Cream. This Cream is a Mixture of Egg and Cheese of course, but neither taste overly overpowering and are both quite light in taste, also Not Overly Sweet. In fact, this Whole Cake don't have a Typical Sweet Taste you'd expect from a Cake.
Its really More Eggy Creamy than Sweet, really not a Very Overly Sweet Taste Profile. Pairing this Cake with the Sai Kar Hor was a Perfect Combo because while the Cake itself is Not the Sweet Type, the Drink provided a Refreshing Sweetness that paired very well together.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At RM7.90 (S$2.50) for the Sai Kar Hor 狮咬虎 Drink was a Reasonable Price. The Mix between Tea and Milo felt just right with Neither One trying to Overpower the Other. Hahaha! We got Ho Kar Sai 虎咬狮 and now tombalek got Sai Kar Ho 狮咬虎 too!
RM14.90 (S$4.60) for this "Ondeh-Ondeh" Lava Cake I also feel is a Reasonable Price for a Cake of this Size. There are some thought that has gone into its design. What I especially enjoyed is that its really not Overly Sweet, so I can eat this with much lesser guilt hahaha!
That said though, if you are the type that prefer your Cake to be the Sweet Sweet type, you might not like this one. Also, some Reviewers feel that it may be Too Jelak for 1 Person. So if you are a Small Eater, I would recommend to share this with someone. Ahem...by right any Cakes should share with someone lah, not eat by yourself lah. Hahaha!
I enjoyed this place and these 2 paired together very well. The Warmth from the Cake and the Chill from the Drink and made it a Very Enjoyable Dessert Combo. A Great Option to Chill and Relax with after some Retail Therapy Shopping.

Read moreOrdered the Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken, Penang Fried Kway Tiao, milk tea, soya bean milk and egg tarts.
The cafe is situated in a popular shopping mall for Singapore tourists. It is clean and brightly lit.
The Penang Fried Kway Tiao is authentic with strong "wok hey". The Kway Tiao has smooth texture with a good balanced taste. The prawns are fresh and it comes with a generous serving of "hums" aka cockles.
The Nasi Lemak rice though fragrant but still lack a bit of coconut milk and pandan. The Curry Chicken has a bright orangy color. It is neither noyna style nor Indian or Malay style. It is sweet and spicy hot. However, it doesn't seem to have much of the usual spices or dried shrimps or belacan aka shrimp paste. It tastes ok but could be better.
The tea is good but would prefer it to be stronger though. The soya bean milk taste very good with a good balance of sweetness. It's not too sweet giving it a distinct soya bean taste but yet with a perfect tint of sweetness that lifted the taste buds
The egg tarts taste good, not too sweet but just lack a stronger caramel flavor.
Overall the food is decent but as it is catering to Singapore tourists, the price is much higher than street prices. Most probably they price it in accordance to a slight discount from pricing we get in Singapore.
But at the very least, with such pricing, yet we good...
Read moreThis was our first visit to this food shop. We ordered mee siam, roasted chicken, and ching chao soya milk. The mee siam was served first, but it was cold, so we requested it to be reheated or replaced with a hot serving. Our table was near the kitchen, and the small pass-through door for food was open. Through the opening, we saw a staff member using his bare hands to place the bee hoon and fried egg onto a plate meant for us.
We immediately went over to inform them that food should not be handled this way, but we were ignored, and they quickly shut the door. We then approached the person in charge of the restaurant, who admitted that food should not be handled like this. However, after a brief visit to the kitchen, he returned and continued working as usual, with no visible corrective action taken.
The way they served the food was another issue. They placed the dishes on the table in a very rude and disrespectful manner, as if we owed them money.
Having witnessed such an unhygienic way of handling cooked food, we decided to cancel our order. There was no apology from the restaurant for the incident.
If anyone is willing to risk their stomach with unhygienic food, feel free to...
