This was a random visit as I didn't plan to visit this place initially. Finished a massage and searched for food options and this place just popped up with pretty good rating and just a stone's throw away from KSL so decided to pay a visit. Was almost dinner time and was strange there was only one other customer in the shop. Guess what attracted me here were the pictures and they gave an impression of how thick the laksa gravy was, so I decided to try it out. Ordered the medium sized one at 13RM and it was quite decent. Portion was quite big and was quite full almost to the brim. Had quite a lot of ingredients inside but first decided to try the gravy. It is definitely thicker than average ones, and could feel its quite rich, but would have loved if there was a bit more depth to it. Loved the dried beancurd skin, well soaked with the gravy. Generous portion of noodles and also fresh cockles and eggs with the dish. Just not too used to the way where they dont serve laksa in thick beehoon so I chose the yellow noodles, and I don't really like the kind of fishballs they use in laksa which kinda don't absorb the flavours of the gravy. Also ordered a bubur chacha which didn't look like the photos. The soup was supposed to be purple in the photos but turned out white in reality. It was okay, though not sure there was a bit of sourness in not sure the sweet potato or the sago, but didn't cause any stomach upset. Was a decent meal, feeling so full for less than 20RM. Would say it's worth a try if you are a laksa fan and you can judge the taste...
Read moreA friend who knows that I am sucker for blood cockles, recommended that I try this place for its laksa with blood cockles and blood cockles on their own. So I found myself today at this place - knowing that the "mother stall" is at Tampoi, but I chose this outlet as the one in Tampoi was indicated as closed for today. Anyway, I was here with my wife when it just opened for business with her ordering a "standard" laksa with some blood cockles, and with me ordering a "standard" laksa with some blood cockles AND an extra add-on of lotsa blood cockles for RM5. And we also ordered a Rojak and a Coke Zero. As regards the laksa on its own, it was very good but I am inclined to less rich type of laksa gravy but not at the expense of taste and robustness. As for the blood cockles, let's just say that blood cockles were BLOODY good - fresh and devoid of any funky taste. With regard to the Rojak, I liked it but then it's only for those who are not turned off by a heavy use of dark prawn paste. Service here was very good - the lady taking our orders spoke fluent English and the dining ambience was okay. So, if you are a big fan of blood cockles, I highly recommend this place - whether in a laksa...
Read moreMy family had laksa for our lunch on 3 March. When the food is served, we realized that 1 bowl of the cockles is spoilt. There were customers in the shop and we were very kind to inform the lady boss privately that the cockles had rotten smell in it instead of making huge fuss.
The lady acknowledged it, both she and her husband went back to the kitchen and I have no idea what they did during the period of time, probably pouring away the spoilt cockles I guess🫤
And GUESS WHAT, SHE DID NOTHING AFTER THAT. SHE DID NOTHING, SHE DIDNT SERVE A NEW BOWL OF LAKSA NEITHER REFUNDED US THE MONEY.
FUGGGG, I didn't expect anything from her but how can she treat this to her customer is this way? That's not how FNB works. This could led to serious food poisoning. I know their quite famous for their laksa but this branch definitely doesn't have the same standard at Tampoi.
Super disappointed experience in the shop. Hope the lady boss and her husband saw this post and respect their customers and the laksa they are serving.
RM10ish is definitely worth the price to learn this is the shop to avoid...
