顺发烧鸭屋 Soon Fatt Roast Duck — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

First time here and packed away a whole roasted duck. The owner was friendly, polite, helpful and generously provided extras sauces. Staff are friendly too, polite, helpful, patience even though they're busy serving handful of customers. Their roasted duck seems to be much bigger compared to any other shops selling the same kind. Taste of the roasted duck is tasty, skin is crispy, well marinated, not really fatty and roasted to perfection. There a few specially prepared sauces that comes with the roasted duck and the best sauce is the type which is a little bit spicy but taste so so nice. Services is fast and efficient. Even though the weather is a little bit hot and humid, the place is crowded with customers during lunch time. They also serve Roasted Goose Rice, Roasted Duck Rice, Roasted Chicken Rice, Roasted Pork Rice, Roasted BBQ Pork Rice, Roasted Pipa Duck Rice, Sweet and Sour Vegetables. Had the charsiew, roast pork, duck trio with rice. It was poor. Charsiew is dry and tough. The meat is not juicy and has not much flavour. Most of the flavour comes from the sauce that it is drenched in. For the siobak, they didn't cut away the hard salty ends at the bottom of the roast, so it wasn't a pleasant bite. The meat itself is ok, but the skin could be thinner and more crisp. As for the duck, the meat is moderately tender but it is cold and the skin has no crisp it has been left out for quite some time. The duck skin also still had the feathers (see pic) so that was very off-putting. The restaurant was empty in the evening so perhaps the roast meats were cooked way beforehand (probably morning or afternoon). The oil rice was also not served hot. I ordered 3 kinds of meat, white tofu, hakka style sour spicy mustard greens and roasted coconut chicken herbal soup. The roast pork, char siew & roast duck are so well done and tasty that you can eat it just like that. Chili & char Siew sauce that came along is delicious and goes well with rice!

The tofu is a bit oily for me as I ordered take away. Perhaps better as dine in dish! Roasted coconut herbal chicken soup is so full of roasted coconut flavor, you can taste it at 1st mouth and its aroma lingers on!
