Golden Asean Hotel — Hotel in Kuala Lumpur

Due to some bad planning on part of my fellow traveller and friend we ended up without a booking in KL on June 5th 2014. We could not find any hotels and we ended up staying here. The first thing that struck us odd was underdressed women in high heels which looked they were there for just one single purpose. The area around the hotel itself is shady. There is a food court next to it which is again filled with half naked women dancing and singing while men feast on pathetic chinese food.||||The overall ambience apart, the worst part of this hotel is the outright militant approach that the owners have. It might seem exaggerated but thats exactly the way they are. We checked in to our room and waited for 15 minutes, the AC wasnt working at all. There was just air but it felt exactly like it did on the streets outside. When i went down to ask for help, the first response of the ladies sitting at the reception was "you havent been in your room, how do you know its not cooling"....just as a context I am from India and have travelled outside, have stayed in both Luxury hotels and in backpacker hostels. But i have encountered people like this. After a lot of requests they sent their Bangladeshi helper who looked at the ac and said its working. All this while the room is a sultry 32 degrees. When i asked them to check again they said there is a problem with my attitude, all this while i am talking to her very politely, calling her 'mam' and using words like 'please can you help us'. She then says she cant do anything. She doesnt even offer to shift us to another room and after i ask myself she tells me 'we cannot do that, i dont know what you have done in the room already'. By then i had spent exactly 15 minutes in my room, my bags were still packed and i hadnt even used a towel or the bed. I was also told that i am being rude and that their regular customers have never complained. The reason clearly is that the regular customers come with prostitutes only for a specific purpose. They definitely dont need a peaceful night. ||When i asked for a refund, she said she cannot do that as they have already processed. All this was happening at 1 am in the night when she could have been helping me and working things out.||||I have never spoken to someone so politely, i was almost bending down on my knees requesting for help because we had had a very very long day and this was the worst experience of my life.||||Please stay away from this hotel unless you are horny. Even if you are keep in mind this hotel was actually under investigation for a prostitution case. I wish i had known earlier but it was a...
