In short: Disappointing and one of the less pleasurable places I stayed in the last years.
But in detail:
The place would have potential under better management, but is falling short in so many areas:
The rooms: There are a few "deluxe" rooms with windows, and many standard rooms without any windows. The "deluxe" rooms face either the street or the railway station. Especially the second ones are basically torture, because you can hear EVERY single train announcement (ding dong 🎵) - and there's a train every two minutes. The walls are paper thin, the windows provide zero noise blocking, it's basically like sleeping on the train track. The rooms in front face a busy road, still noisy, but much less annoying. Besides that, you also hear every word of your neighbors. They also cheat with the room sizes, all Deluxe King rooms are advertised with 20sqm, but only the ones in the front are actually that size. So IF you want to stay here, request (and let them confirm!) a room facing the front on a high floor (usually 101/102, 201/202, etc)
Maintenance state of the rooms is in a mixed state too, bathroom doors are squeaky, water tap in the bathrooms is broken, bum gun leaking, light bulbs not working, hand soap dispenser is always empty - and doesn't even get refilled on request. It's the small things that show, if management cares about a place or not.
The beds are a hit and miss, because they have various different mattresses. Some are okay, some more like an elevated part of the floors, rock hard - all are Malaysian "king size", which is 191cm length. As already mentioned in other reviews, the "king size" are actually two single beds moved together. Which would be fine, if the two mattresses (at least in the first room I stayed in) wouldn't be of different height. Usually hotels also put a full sized mattress topper and large sheets over the two single beds to make it more comfortable - but of course not here. And there is absolutely no fridge in the room, which is surprisingly limiting, especially for longer stays.
There's only room service on request, once per week. If you need toilet paper or new towels, you have to get it from the reception. The towels seem to be ancient, are thin, have stains, holes and have a weird smell. Same goes for the bed sheets. The blanket in the second room smelled like wet old socks, but it needed a discussion to get another one, because "they don't have spare blankets"! Another sign of "service, the great unknown" or "how not to run a hospitality business" - except you're maybe running a hostel!
Internet/Wifi is available, but extremely unstable at best. If you still want to stay here, but are relying on stable internet, better choose some other place.
Especially the female day staff at reception doesn't appear to be very interested in her job - or in being friendly, or accommodating, or useful in any way. She prefers to be on the phone instead or just completely ignores you - clearly a complete miscast in the hospitality business. Her attitude would probably fit better in some government office job. The older guy in the night shift never managed to say even hello in over two weeks stay. Only the manager seems to be at least interested in the problems raised and tries to fix - or at least to address - the issues.
AC worked well, besides some random rattling noises, water pressure in the shower was fine, the amount of hot water seems to be limited though, but it's usually just enough if you don't have too extensive showers.
The surroundings around the hotel might seem a bit strange at first, because the area seems to be a bit deserted and run down. But it's near to the city center and some fancy malls (Lalaport) and excellent local restaurants in the residential area nearby are in walking distance. The vicinity to Pudu station is really convenient too (except your room is facing...
Read moreAn awful experience in all respects. I was first staying somewhere else and walked in the day before to enquire about their rates. When I asked about weekday rates, the receptionist told me about their weekly rates. Plus, their printout is confusing because it doesn't include tourist tax, so you have to do the maths and add it yourself. After all, adding 10 RM in your head isn't hard, but if you are comparing multiple hotels, some of which include it in the printed price and others that don't, it starts being hard. When we checked in the next day, the receptionist gave me a receipt for the deposit with a different name on it. I asked her to correct it, because, strictly speaking, if the receipt is not in my name, it has no legal value. She reprinted, but still wasn't able to copy the name from my passport correctly. The room had no soundproofing at all: we could hear the couple next door very well. If I understood Chinese, I would have been able to even understand the conversation. This place is not private at all, and getting a good night's sleep is hard. Another thing: a printout in the room says that guests may have free breakfast at the restaurant next door if they show the hotel's key card. When I tried the next morning, they told me that they don't offer free breakfast: I may have anything from the menu, but I must pay. I would also like to point out that this hotel encourages guests to leave a 5-star review on Google and Tripadvisor in exchange for a "free gift" (see the attached picture taken at reception). The reviews posted about this hotel are therefore not...
