Established in 1900, this restaurant can boast one of the longest heritage among restaurants in the Pudu area. Renowned for their roast goose and duck, we popped in for a quick lunch recently.
The roast pork (Siew Yoke) was decent, but was lacking in spice aroma that you'd usually get with the good ones. It was rather under-seasoned as well. No crispy crackling either.
The Char Siew looked inviting but was underwhelming. It had some caramelised parts but was again, rather lacking in seasoning and taste.
The Chinese Sausage on the other hand, had an overly strong liver and alcohol taste. It also lacked a balanced flavour you'd expect from these type of sausages.
The Special Soup was a redeeming item; flavourful from the chicken / duck / goose bones and some jicama used to boil the soup. We did get a free top up of soup too.
Overall, the food here was quite underwhelming. With a few competitors in the nearby vicinity, (including one specialising in Guangdong style duck that recently opened two doors away), I anticipate that they will struggle to continue operating in the near future. Give it a try while it's...
Read moreTraditional chicken/goose rice shop and has been there many years ago, and it was good, so I revisitedast week.
But I was so disappointed that The Charsiu is super hard, and the roasted pork is not crunchy at all. They charge RM2 for a small bowl of soup and this is the first time I need to pay for soup when having chicken rice. And the soup is very very normal and oily. The duck is okay.. I got the "ngap feet Pao" and it's so hard that I can't even chew it. The duck gizzard was okay okay. 🥲
I will definitely Not go back there again. This is my very personal opinion, Maybe it just does not suit my taste bud. The price is not...
Read moreI had a roast duck and pork for lunch. The taste it’s different with the authentic source. You can either choose a sweat or salty source.
I have chosen the salty source, overall it is not bad. They also provide the duck soup, which is also taste good. Overall they only charge RM 37 including drinks for 2 person. The price is affordable.
You also can see some of the pictures on how they get started the duck roast business, they don’t have lots of renovation in the shop and it exactly look the same for few decades. I thought the shop age is some where around 60 years, who know it is...
