Chinese new year eve, February 9, 2024, Friday, 8pm. Total spending RM 1500 including service charges for 6 pax.
We booked a table for 6 on Chinese new year eve reunion dinner.
Deposit of minimum RM 500 is required. Car park is charged at RM 20 per entry, managed by a group of youngsters with loads of fierceness, sternness and unfriendliness.
Location is great, because we are staying nearby.
Atmosphere is good. Love their washroom. But staff friendlies is lacking.
On the actual day, we reached earlier around 7.40pm. I think the previous round dinner which was scheduled at 5pm is just done. Some diners from the 5pm slot has not left the restaurant.
Upon arrival, the service crew became very stressful, most probably they did not expect KL people to be punctual and less likely like us we will arrive earlier from our booking. Table setting not done. We are seated, then followed by table setting by the service crew.
If I am given a chance to compare the professionalism of service crew from Putien and LAVO, I personally think service crew at Andaman are not well trained or in another word, not much experience. We had plate fell from their hand to the table, creating real loud noises, and the most unacceptable table setting by almost throwing tableware like chopsticks, spoon and fork at my dining area. (Maybe they are trying to be fast, forgetting service crew etiquette).
The food portion is excruciating huge, most probably they only have standard size of serving size regardless of the number of people who are dining at one table. We can't finish all of them.
Most of the dishes were on par with my expectations. I love the wasabi prawn, but the appearance of the dish did not attracted me at all. 冰镇(鸡)古老肉 was really good, love their fruit sides along the dish. The red bean shaved ice was quite new to me but we have family member who do not like red bean. The fish was too salty for our family. The Chinese steamed rice cake with shredded coconut was not good at all for myself.
I saw diners brought own alcoholic drinks, not sure if corkage fee is included. We wanted to bring own alcoholic drinks but decided not to bring in the end.
Environment is comfortable. Lighting is good for photos but the sound system sometimes ran faulty by playing too loud suddenly, frightened me...
Read moreUnfortunately this will be a one time thing. If you are planning to come for a try now (February 2024), think twice. I have Taken a CNY package for company dinner, to be honest the food is...... Bad. Food were fresh and the building is beautiful, but definitely not the taste. Spending 2k in a restaurant, serving lou hei from boxes (understandable but disappointed). The first dish was a dry chilli fried chicken, 80% chilli and served with chicken. The chef might lost his taste butt for spicy, it was crazy. [they charge for ice water too] 🥵🥵🥵
After the spicy chicken, here comes the wasabi prawn. 😰😰(Just started to wipe off the sweat from the face and here come the nose) Just be fair, the prawn is beautifully cook and it taste good actually, the rest.......😐. The vege Pak coy with some dry squid cook in a milky soup is still OK.
When you expect a nice big fish to be served in a high standard seafood restaurant. The restaurant surprise you with 2 (smaller fish) which not really as expected. Taste is totally different from expectations, at least not from a SEAFOOD village standard restaurant.
The rice (糯米饭)& the rice cake (年糕)with coconut, this were the starts of disaster, the taste is terrible, the goose liver with the arrowhead root on the rice taste awful. (terrible combination or the chef might not been well trained). Rice cake was a joke in the restaurant, cheapskate as .... 🫢🫢
The highlight of the night which I love will definitely be the ice cream served . (peanut butter taste) . 🍦🍦👍👍👍👍
If you are planning to come for a company gathering or family gathering, better buy a much expensive set, you might get a room for yourself in the restaurant. You can't communicate well at all in the restaurant's hall, is super noisy and the echo is so loud. Spoil the CNY mood. I see the admin have reply alot of the comments here in Google and hopefully these can really be solved.
Will I come back for 2nd round, not a chance after experience... The food doesn't not...
Read moreI made a phone call to reserve a table with a good view, and the staff assured me, "Don’t worry, just come and choose yourself; we have plenty of seats tonight." However, upon arrival, the male manager in a white shirt informed us that they didn’t have enough staff that night and directed us to a closed area with no view or breeze, completely different from what we were expecting.
I requested to sit next to the wall with nice wallpaper so we could at least take some good photos, but the female manager, Yvonne, insisted the table was reserved and refused our request. To our dismay, the so-called “reserved” table remained empty throughout the evening. Additionally, the open area, which Yvonne claimed was closed, had several groups dining there.
When we ordered, the male manager in the white shirt made an inappropriate and offensive comment without consulting us. He said, “I’ll just serve you all small portions because only you Chinese people order so much; we Malaysians don’t order this much.” This was an extremely rude and discriminatory remark, completely unacceptable in any setting.
To make matters worse, the food took one and a half hours to arrive. We were a group of 8, including 4 hungry 11-year-old boys who had to endure this long and painful wait.
This experience was beyond disappointing. Poor service, offensive behavior, and broken promises ruined what should have been a pleasant evening. I strongly urge management to train their staff to treat all customers with respect and professionalism, regardless of nationality, and to deliver on...
