It was a Saturday night, and it was an outing with girlfriends. We decided on this place. As the name clearly showed, it was mainly a seafood place, but there were also a few dishes too on the menu for the hardcore meat-eaters. For our drinks, there was a promotion for a choice of 2 types of wine (an Italian sauvignon blanc or a chardonnay) with 2 free oysters at the price of RM160 something ++. We chose the Italian sauvignon blanc as its a less drier wine and it was a sweeter choice. The server, Snow, helped with our choice. Good service, indeed. Our choice of dishes (sharing for 5 of us) were 2 pots of clams and mussels cooked in white wine, cream, and garlic, and the other one in an Asian spiced tomato sauce. Each of them came with a helping of bread. We chose a plate of garlic bread and the other, Sourdough. Good choice as the 2 pots of shell dishes had excellent tasty sauces for dipping. Then came the River Lobster Jambalaya, and what a choice it was as this was my first time having a jambalaya. The short grain rice was so well cooked in that tasty, delicious seafood broth. It was a feast in itself. We ended up with a wonderful fish and chips (the fish was mackerel). The batter of the fish was crispy and delicious with the thickly cut fish done really well. A very good helping of chips and a side of vegetables. What a good meal! Pricing was a tad higher, but it was really worth it. It was, after all, a Saturday night out. I'm definitely returning for more delicious...
Read moreI had the fish and chips which was lovely, but 2 of our party sent their food back as it tasted mouldy/musty. The thing that really annoyed me was, I left before the rest of the party, so I paid, checked I'd paid for everything I'd had and left. On the way home one of my group called to say the restaurant was saying I'd only paid for my food, but not my alcohol. Like I said, I checked my bill very carefully. After much forwarding and backwarding, where the restaurant kept insisting I hadn't paid the full amount so my friends would have to settle my bill, my friend sent me a picture of the bill. This was a different bill, with food that was different to my own and belonged to someone else who had also settled and also left early. I pointed out their mistake (which isn't my job to do). It was lucky I knew exactly how much my bill was, otherwise my group would have been charged twice for my bill. This really spoilt my night and was very stressful. My meal and drinks were expensive, so I would expect them to be able to keep track of orders, not accuse people...
Read moreWhen it comes to deciding what to eat or where to go for brunch in Bangsar, I always get a headache. I went to @bait, which had been on my list for a while, and I was not disappointed. I love how delicious the food is, and the atmosphere is cosy. It's a great place to go, and I'm wondering why I didn't come sooner.
What we ordered : Fish and chips Rm35 *I'm picky when it comes to fish and chips, and this was fantastic! The fish was fried to perfection, with a crispy outer layer and moist, flaky fish on the inside. I also like how thick and crispy the fries are. I ordered the set lunch and for an additional Rm5, I got a good cuppa coffee.
Nasi lemak kukus with chicken rendang Rm25 - lunch set includes adrink *The rice was fragrant, and the rendang chicken was delicious. I wished they were a little more generous with the rendang chicken portion.
*Overall, the food was delicious, I loved the reasonably priced lunch sets, and the service was excellent. A special thanks to Snow for taking such good care of us; we can't...
