Safe choice for roasted duck

When you crave for roast duck while going into a shopping mall, chances are that you’ll think of Village Roast Duck right away. With 4 outlets in popular shopping malls such as Pavilion KL, Sunway Pyramid, The Gardens Mall and Bangsar Village Mall.. the name already suggest what they do best - roast duck!

That day I was craving for something soupy actually. Coincidentally I spotted this restaurant located at the main entrance of BV1 - I remember that they always give complimentary soup; hence it was a no brainier decision to walk-in.

▪️complimentary soup - bowls of soup would be served to each & every one once order was placed. Quenched my craving for soup immediately without feeling thirsty. ▪️Drunken cockles - another favourite dish of mine. The cockles were freshly marinated - according to the waitress - and served cold. The molluscs were quite small in size but definitely fresh with flavours of Chinese wine, vinegar, chilly and garlic infused together. ▪️Double combination platter - Roast duck & siew yuk proved to be wise choice. Couldn’t find fault with the crispy skin and tender meat (for both!) ▪️prawn dumpling soup - the dumpling skin was torn even before we took a bite, but the ingredients were generous. ▪️teng zai zhuk - atas version with the porridge laced with fried fish maw, peanut, fried fritters and roast duck breasts. Perfect comfort food for those who like to eat porridge. ▪️fried rice - sufficient wok hei parted into the plate of fried rice.

When the kids didn’t make any fuss, the dining affair was always an...

Having read the last 10 review for this place, I questioned myself why I was proposing to give this place 2 stars, and perhaps this evening and our table was just plain unlucky to receive bad service and dry roast duck.

Firstly, I was very impressed when the maitre'd brought out a chair for my elderly mother to sit while we waited for a table. Off to a good start.

We were promptly seated, menu offered and order taken shortly after.

This is where their stars fell.

We had to ask 3 times for our drinks before we got them. We ordered 4 dishes plus rice. It took a long time (more than 5 mins)after the first dish ( broccoli) before the next dish (tofu) came. And then we still had to wait for our rice ( another few minutes away). And another few minutes before their signature roast duck came. What a disappointment! It was dry and chewy. My embarrassed brother who brought me here reasoned that it is probably because it is 8.30pm and the duck has been hanging there the whole day. If it is that bad, then don't serve it. We gave up waiting for our last dish (bbq pork) so, we asked the waiter to check. He came back saying that the bbq pork was burnt and so they aren't serving it. Why didn't one of them told us that it is not available? Instead waited till we asked. By this time, we gave up, paid at the counter and left.

Therefore, I decided to change from 2 to 3 stars, as it must be "OK" if that many people think otherwise. Unlike Arnie in The Terminator, I doubt...

[non-halal restaurant]

Nestled on the 1st floor of Bangsar Village shopping centre, this place attracts quite a crowd during the lunch hour rush. And after dining there, it’s easy to see why.

The food quality at Village Duck is consistently excellent, never failing to impress. The standout dish for me was the roasted pork, which boasted a perfect combination of crispy skin and tender meat. Each bite felt like a savory explosion, and you could almost feel it melt in your mouth.

Another star of the show was the seafood porridge, which was generously loaded with a variety of ingredients. From succulent seafood to flavorful garnishes, it was a delightful bowl that truly satisfied.

It’s worth noting that [Restaurant Name] leans toward the pricier side, with each dish ranging from RM 20-30. However, if you’re in search of high-quality Chinese cuisine that never disappoints, this place is well worth the investment. The taste, ambiance, and attentive service all contribute to a memorable dining experience.

So, if you’re willing to splurge a little for a gastronomic adventure, this is the place to go. Just be sure to plan accordingly and arrive early to avoid the lunchtime crowd – it’s a testament to the restaurant’s popularity and the excellence of...

Recommended by a client and so I tried it yesterday! Will I eat again? HELL YES Rate: 5/5 Roasted duck 🦆 Some part the duck skin is too thick, hard to chew. IMO, better to order BONELESS option or not hard to eat. The matching soy sauce is a plus, it’s the hongkong style. The Chili is local belacan dried Chili style. Pumpkin soup 🎃 Super good this one. Will just come back to have this. Taste smooth & sweet. Contains seafood & veg inside. Got mushroom, celery, carrot, onion, crab, prawn etc. Queue is quite long (2-5pax) order and wait for takeaways. (Including grab rider & self pickup). For dine in only saw 1 table. ❤️‍🔥Update: second takeaways on 31/8 ❤️‍🔥2 in 1 Mix match (roasted pork siew yok & char siew) ⚠️ COME WITHOUT RICE ⚠️ Roasted pork not salty. Taste just right. Fatty layer is super good, skin layer is crunchy. Char siew is ok ok only. Both charsiew & roasted pork are in thick cut. Portion is big (refer to pic) ❤️‍🔥 Lotus leaf wrapped seafood fried rice It tastes more like 悶飯. Taste not very dry & soy sauce like. Contains squid (sotong) & prawns & soy sauce.
