One of the best discoveries
Another trip , another pleasant discovery. My work took me all the way to Cheras again and I planned my journey earlier so I can explore this area known as Taman Yulek among old timers. My GPS took me through the narrow road leading towards some old flats.
When my car finally stopped right in front of the cafe, I realized that Bond Cafe is in fact located inside the old flay itself. Walked through a bridge to cross over, washed clothes could be seen hanging from the window of the flat unit above.
Inside revealed another world separating from the outside. This cafe is the labour of love for both founders who decorated it to evoke the feeling of being at home - it felt cosy. Menu for both food & drinks are kept simple yet from what I'd read from the reviews, they nail almost each & every item.
◾Bacon sandwich & Onion Jam (RM25) - while I wasn't looking for anything to eat, the word "bacon" and "onion jam" piqued my interest. Crunchy sourdough with slightly charred smokey taste ladened generously with awesome bacon and onion jam. The fresh salad was served on the side. I could easily order a second helping but didn't want to stuff myself too much. ◾Coffee at RM9 for black and extra RM3 for a cup of white, they were priced lower than most cafes outside yet not lack of flavour and kick!
While I really like this place, getting a parking space can be a hassle here especially in the afternoon. Essentially a neighbourhood cafe, it's worth...
Read moreI had the pleasure of trying both the French toast and the Thai Pra Kao with basil, and each dish was outstanding in its own way.
The French toast was made with brioche, which was soft, fluffy, and perfectly soaked to achieve a rich yet airy texture. It struck a great balance of sweetness without being overwhelming — truly a delightful comfort dish.
On the other hand, the Thai Pra Kao with basil delivered bold, aromatic flavors that were fresh and well-rounded. The seasoning was spot on, and the basil added a fragrant lift that tied the whole dish together beautifully.
To top it off, the coffee was excellent — rich, aromatic, and smooth, complementing both dishes perfectly.
Overall, the meal was a wonderful combination of sweet and savory, with thoughtful preparation evident in each dish. I’d definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for both satisfying comfort food and vibrant, flavorful...

That aside, the owner was kind enough to come over to explain the coffee varieties, especially since I hate acidic coffee. Unfortunately, the coffee beans variety there are mostly acidic in nature hence, imparting a tart taste. However, pleasantly surprising is that the coffee doesn't make me cringe so much although it was acidic. It was well-balanced. I'm still on a quest for a coffee as black and bitter as my soul.
Food portion is huge too and I have no complaints about the food. Standard cafe fare but one of the slightly better ones I've had.
Overall, would recommend this place but parking is very limited and very hard to find so I would suggest getting here via...
