Service that left a bad taste in our mouths!
The interior has a nice ambience. Staff however seemed to lack the warmth and pleasantry customers are accustomed to when dining at such establishments.
Nevertheless, we sat and ordered our lunch - 1 x Big Breakfast, 1 x French Toast, 1 x Shakshouka.
The Shakshouka was nice and paired well with the bread. The Big Breakfast was ordinary. They ran out of beef streaks (despite it only being noon), which was replaced by chicken ham. The French Toast was quite yummy.
However, much is left to be desired from the service level. The waiter had brought us our Shakshouka and 2 servings of Big Breakfast. We clarified that we only ordered one, and he walked away looking confused.
We quickly double checked our online order to make sure we did order properly. After reconfirming our order, we courteously informed the same waiter, as he walked pass, that we only ordered one Big Breakfast and pending one French Toast, while showing him our online order.
Moments later, a Malay (not that it matters) lady, who could be the manager or proprietor, interrupted our chat while questioning "Apa? Apa?" (English: "What? What?").
We explained that we were merely confirming our order of one French Toast. She then voiced out "Coming! Coming!" while walking away, thinking we were questioning the delay in serving our order instead of properly understanding the situation.
All in all, some hits and some misses with the food taste and quality. Certainly does not commensurate the pricing - for which many other cafes offer better...
Read moreGreat food, relaxing ambience and awesome service. They offer a variety of fusion dishes like kimchi omelette and mentaiko pasta, as well as a few familiar ones like salt beef sandwich and tomato soup.
They had a pop-up menu on our first visit (which was excellent, but sadly only a one time occasion) so we returned the following weekend to try their regular menu. One visit wasn't enough to try everything we wanted so we came back the next day too.
Each one of their dishes is visually stunning, thoughtfully crafted and consistently delicious. From their regular menu, we had the calamari salad (RM23), ricotta hotcakes (RM25), kimchi omelette (RM23), homemade tomato cream soup (RM21), mentaiko pasta (RM23) and salt beef sandwich (RM25). Especially loved the kimchi omelette and ricotta hotcakes, but every single one is worth a try (and a return!).
Ordered the Rose Earl Grey Latte Coffee and Houjicha Latte for drinks. Both were done just right and were beautifully presented in these lovely coloured cups.
Definitely my favourite cafe at the moment. Staff are attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Love everything about the place, will definitely be a...
Read moreWent in cause I was craving the perfect breakfast. I ordered the Shakahouka and sour dough (with chicken sausage, salad and free range farm eggs as added sides). Everything was perfect! Served sizzling hot, made from quality ingredients and made by a skilled chef.
The staff is attentive, offered me a plug for my laptop as well as water top ups and checked in from time to time.
The food was so good, I ordered kway teow, sour dough loaf and salted caramel cookie to go. All were so good, even when reheated later at home. The food is on the higher priced side (especially for local food) but everything was made with fresh and quality ingredients and I felt worth the charge.
My only criticism is the impersonal QR code ordering that alleged if I spent more, I could receive cash back. After 100rm spend and a lot of struggle with the ordering app (that the staff kindly helped me with), no cash back and seems to be the only thing about Chi Chi that doesn’t offer warmth and a human touch.
Definitely will be back if I’m craving the perfect hearty breakfast / brunch in the...
