My fried chicken-loving husband & I visited the newest eatery in TTDI as we were curious to see if this new chicken place can compete with popular fried chicken joints like Hot Bird or Fowl Boys! Sharing our honest thoughts in hopes of improvement for the future- The good: Loved the side options- especially the curly fries and Cajun fries! The Cajun fries has potato skin on it and it’s fried to perfection with great flavour. Really enjoyed the ambience and modern decoration too, despite many tiny flies which the workers were trying their best to get rid of. The can-do-better: Overall chicken is very crispy, however the taste and texture can be improved. We ordered the mild and hot flavour and both were a bit bland for our tastebuds. The chicken burger was a let down for me- chicken thigh (pictured) is a tad bit dry and lacking of sauce (& flavour); however we do appreciate the portion as it has 2pcs chicken breast in the burger. Popcorn chicken was meh too. We sincerely hope the food can be improved because we would love to visit again to try the other spicy level! But we also do recommend you to visit this place for yourselves as we may just be unlucky that day. TLDR; curly fries and Cajun fries were amazing, fried chicken and burger flavours can be improved, nice decor and comfortable interior.

I recently visited Hott Chickk and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their food! The menu offers a variety of options, but I decided to try the classics: a chicken burger, chicken tenders, and a side of mashed potatoes. Taste & Flavor: The chicken burger was fantastic — juicy, well-seasoned, and topped with fresh veggies that added a nice crunch. The chicken tenders were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. They also offer several sauces, and I highly recommend trying the garlic sauce. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery, and they tasted homemade, which was a nice touch. Quality & Freshness: Everything tasted freshly made and was served hot. Portion Size & Value: The portion sizes were quite generous! I felt that I got good value for my money, as the quality and quantity matched the price. Service: The staff were friendly and helpful. Ambiance: The shop itself is cozy and clean, with a relaxed atmosphere. There’s seating for those who want to dine in, and the decor is simple yet inviting. Overall Recommendation: I would definitely recommend Hott Chickk if you’re looking for good-quality, tasty chicken options. The food is flavorful, fresh, and reasonably priced. I’ll be back to try more from their menu soon!

We went on their opening day so everything on the menu is 50% off. We had chicken burger, solo pack (mild) and mac & cheese. The crust of the fried chicken is 5⭐️ and the seasoning compliment the chicken well. Beware of a rather strong chili powder smell. It was a satisfying fried chicken. The food arrived hot. The fries and mashed potato is … *chef kiss*. It not those rehaydrated mashed potato, it the real deal. Like they make it with real potato (I found a lump or two). Their fries is thick. As it their opening day, it a full house and food running fast. We ordered mac and cheese but they only have one left (you supposed to get 3). Their floor staff was very apologetic about it. They made up by giving us 7 chicken nugget + 1 mac and cheese. Thank you! Their mac and cheese is fried and ball shape. The chicken nugget has a homemade flair to it. It like cook shreded chicken inside. Their chili sauce is worth mentioning. If you like Lingham’s, you gonna love it. It goes well with everything. Every kids that come in that night get free ice cream. Substantial amount too. Murah hati. Abang Sohan (sorry if I get the name wrong) is so kind and attentive to everyone need that night. He work so hard getting things goes smoothly on the floor.

My rating for this establishment is 4.5/10

I'll rate what I ordered:

Tenders (4/10)

  1. Not juicy at all, its like the tenders aren't cook using a pressure cooker fryer, maybe normal fryer cause the chicken tenders were tough, and seems overcooked. The outer layer of the chicken has this solid layer that you'll get if you overcooked chicken on 1 side at home.
  2. Too salty, Didn't think someone would make the same mistake as Pretty's that the chili powder and salt are combined to make the spice thus when you order for extra spicy, they'll put more spice, thus making it salty. I thought I'm gonna get hypertension.
  3. The portion per price is great, but the portioning for the tenders itself doesn't make sense. I ordered the 8 tenders, as it'll give 2 sides (in my mind, oh it's for 2 people) but no. the 8 tenders are so big, it's like im eating 4 chicken breasts. even 3 people can't finish it. Make sure to make it clear how much those tenders would be.

Nasi Lemak: 6.5/10

  1. Basic, nothing special. The sambal is mediocre.
  2. They do use basmathi for the rice, so i think that's 1 point.
  3. The chicken looks juicy at first, but when it gets colder a bit, it became dry, so it's not juices, it's oil.

Sauces: 7/10

  1. Higher points because the price for sauces is cheap, and you'll get quite a large tub for it.
  2. The garlic sauce i ordered seems thick, but the garlic intensity is low. Feels like more cream than garlic.
  3. The thousand island sauce is mediocre. (Benchmarking Hotbird's comeback sauce)

Cajun Fries: 5/10

  1. Fries is crispy, though nothing special. Basic fries.
  2. You.. dont feel the Cajun..

TLDR: Overall I think they need to make sure the quality is proper. Based on Jason's reviews, it looks promising, but then when I went to order it, the quality was meh at most. If their chickens (chicken tenders, fried chicken) which is the main attraction is already out, then there is no hope for the restaurant. Portion per price is great, though if the quality was messed to get those quantities, then they need to re-evaluate again. Would not come again until...

This is a local store that primarily cooks Nashville hot chicken.

Taking your local KFC as a point of reference, the price is higher and the wait times are significantly longer. Do these inconveniences translate to a better chicken? Yes and no.

No, because sometimes you really want KFC. If you’re expecting something that will surpass KFC at being KFC, then I suggest you go to KFC, or arguably Texas/Church’s Chicken.

Yes, because Hot Chickk is really its own flavour. I like it. The sides are good. The chicken is served hot. The wait times are long perhaps because they are made to order. And sometimes I really really really don’t want to drive out to go to Hot Bird, which is its local competitor.

I would still go to KFC. But it’s nice to have a premium alternative for fried chicken.

I recommend the chicken tenders. Six pieces are plenty for the average person. Comes with two sides, which you are free to mix-and-match. Of those sides, I favour the fries, with the waffles fries trumping all. In a categorical second, their mashed potato is good.

I would also recommend two-piece chicken set (aka the solo set) as a cheaper alternative, although the sides seem to be pre-locked into french fries and mashed potatoes.

I have no opinion over their ice-cream nor their milkshakes, for I’ve yet to try them. The burger seems uninspired, and I find no compulsion within me to order it. Welp. At least KGB would still have business.

What else? Ah, practical things. Being forced to pay for sauces is a bit of a nickel-and-dime move. Parking may be non-existent (this is TTDI, after all). The outlet itself is clean. The staff are friendly (in comparison to other places in this city and the type of establishment this is). Tables are relatively limited. It closes relatively late, I was able to make a takeaway...

Disappointing Experience – Definitely Not Coming Back

The restaurant looked appealing at first glance, which drew me in and made me want to give it a try. Upon arrival, I placed an order for several dishes and sets — including nasi lemak. I even double-checked with the staff to confirm if the nasi lemak was still available, and they assured me that it was. Based on that, I proceeded with the order.

Around 10 minutes later, the order collection machine beeped, indicating that the food was ready. I went up to the counter, only to be told that the nasi lemak was no longer available and that I had to choose another set instead. I declined and requested a refund instead. The cashier didn’t seem very pleased and took their time to return my change.

I initially assumed that the nasi lemak was the only item unavailable and that the rest of the food was ready. However, I soon realized that nothing else had been prepared either. So why call me up only to inform me about the nasi lemak issue? Why not take the initiative to come over to our table and explain the situation politely?

What followed was another 20-minute wait just to receive the remaining items. On top of that, we were not even given the correct number of drinks that we had ordered.

Is this really the kind of service that makes you expect customers to return?

To make matters worse, the food was bland. The oil clearly hadn’t been changed — the fried chicken was dark, overcooked, and had an unpleasant aftertaste.

MEATPOINT - nstead of rushing to open new branches and offer a variety of cuisines, perhaps more attention should be paid to maintaining basic food quality and service standards.

This was my first and definitely my last visit. Absolutely not...
