Went in for lunch in order to avoid the dinner crowd. Seems this place is packed daily for dinner. We had prawn bisque. I would say this is a must for anyone who has not tried it. The bisque is so yummy with aromatic prawn taste to it. There's only two prawns in it but they were fresh and tasty. Love this so much, only thing missing was some bread to go with it. Had the ink squid pasta. The pasta cooked to perfection, el dante. The taste was just perfect for me, love it very much. Lots of squids in it for squids lover. Had the porto romano signature seafood pasta came with lots of clams, squids, prawns and pipi. Very tasty, very saucy. Love the tomatoe taste in the sauce Finish off with a pannacotta....perfectly wobbly and tasted great. The service was excellent and quick. Love the old style ambience here too. Parking is a challenge, be ready to circle a few rounds to look for a parking spot. Do not park illegally as the parking attendants are very dlilgent in this area. Definitely will be back to try their other pasta and pizzas.

From the charming countries of knotted olive trees and vibrant fishing boats, buoyed by turquoise waters, Porto Romano brings alive the magic and grandeur of Mediterranean cuisine to satisfy the most avid of food lovers. Porto Romano’s evocative menu draws from the rich heritage of Mediterranean cuisine which has been influenced by three great revolutions : the Arab agricultural revolution of the ninth through twelfth centuries, the Age of Exploration in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, and the creative impulse of the Renaissance. At Porto Romano, explore hearty Mediterranean flavours through its never monotonous menu. Expect bounties of the sea, plenty of seasonal vegetables, generous amounts of garlic and fresh herbs and liberal amounts of olive oil. Prepared with simplicity and respect, delivered in a cosy environment, Porto Romano has something for everyone – the vegetarian, the health conscious, and the lovers of rich cuisine. Porto Romano’s menu consists of halal meats and is a pork-free establishment

Visited this restaurant for lunch on a weekday so it's very easy to get a seat. Parking, on the other hand, can be really difficult in this part of TTDI. The menu is extensive and covers all the Italian staple dishes, plus plenty more - you'd be spoiled for choice. We decided to try the classics of carbonara and mushroom pastas, along with the unconventional blue cheese pasta. All three were really rich and creamy, truly didn't disappoint by how delicious they were. The portions can be quite big for those with small appetites, so it's best to share if that's you. While the prices can be a little on the high side, the quality and portions make up for it. This restaurant has been around for so many years, it's still lovely and cosy on the inside, making it perfect for dates or family gatherings. The service was fast and efficient, no need for long waits or repeated attempts to get the staff's attention. Would definitely return to try the other dishes on the menu!

One of the worse dine-in experienced ever for me and my sister.

My sister and I had dinner around 7 at Porto Romano on 18/7/2020, We had no reservation, fortunately there’s one table available in front, just nice outside in the open air area. Porto Romano is one of my sister’s favorite place and the food is nice.

Unfortunately, as we started the eat, a female personnel name JUNE abruptly stopped us and informed my sister she needs to have our table moved, so as to add another table to the small area we seated and she further said this was asked by her BOSS.

My sister and i have no words to say, unfrazed by the sitiuation , JUNE keep pushing my sister to agree, totally ingnoring me. Once she put her hands on the table with another personnel, they started to move the table without us agreeing to it. I had to asked them to stop and to leave us alone.

It was rude of her to even thinking of asking to move our table while we were eating. It was even ruder that there were only 2 couples including us were dining there, there was no urgent need to do it yet. They could have just waited till we finished eating. It was even worse as we were still under recovery MCO where social distancing were still being observed. That area was suitable to only place one table. Everything about the incident was wrong.

I could not comprehand the sitiuation and asked the other waiter to stop my order from coming as we felt disrespectful. JUNE immediately stopped from moving our tables. We had asked to see the BOSS but she said he had left, and she said sorry without any remorse and left.

Asked the other staff if she was the manager and they said its Che Din. He came to our service, informing JUNE is a senior person there, he doesn’t know of what had happened and apologize. We pay off what we had for our dinner while Che Din had asked for JUNE to apologize to us properly. Unfortunately again, she came, indifferently stating her intent. We just told her she should not have done that and she could have waited. She just said sorry, left us, while leaving, shouting at Che Din, “I’M DONE”..

Mr Eddy Wong, if you are the owner (the BOSS), you should not have asked your staff to disturb your customer like that while they were eating. If you didn’t do that, this JUNE should not be part of your customer services. If she is still there, she probably has been servicing you better coz she ain’t pleasing us as your loyal customers.

I m sorry to say, none of my family nor my friends will ever be dining with you again. You may not feel the loss as you have other loyal clients with you, but the incident was uncalled for.

Have...

The food here is 4-stars. I like the Lamb Shank which is a tomato-based - it is one of the few more accessible tomato-based shanks in KL and quite close to the Italian style. It is now served with potato wedges (previously with a side of chili-flaked pasta) but you can try asking for mash instead. The pizzas and pastas are a "meet expectations" sort though you'd never think them truly Italian. The meat platter is "meh".

The decor in this outlet in Taman Tun is distinctive. It isn't a Mediterranean style with large paintings of seasides, large seashells and paraphernalia of boats. The lights are soothing and dim - great for dates and easy nights out with close friends or family. The toilet also has very large seashells... not sure I'm mentioning it but I like them.

The service here is great. Get to know the staff and you will find them warm and friendly. They are from Myanmar. The "head waiter" is Charlie. The baldy bartender is Pete. Moe and Turan round out the wait staff - though there may be changes since I last visited.

I would recommend this place to most white expats from UK and US who like good dining...
