We wanted to have our late breakfast at Santai, but unfortunately it was closed that day. So, my wife suggested this place next door, which she had visited before..
It was not a bad call after all. The modestly decorated restaurant didnt look very appealing from the outside, but as we walked in I could smell the familiar aroma of home cooked food!! This IS my kind of place!
My wife instinctly ordered the Special Char Kway Teow, with "special" being the key word here. She rarely ever finished her food, and would always offer me to do the honor. Expecting that would happen, I purposely looked for something else. Eventually, I requested for the Kway Teow Kung Foo, which turned out quite tasty as well, not unlike my favorite Ipoh styled Wanton Hor...Hence, I ended up finishing my meal satisfactorily, not even a drop of soup was left in my bowl!! Surprisingly, so did my wife...Looks like we will have to come again in the future for me to actually try the...
Read moreI have expectations cos of the good reviews. However, I left very disappointed.
Soya Bean - my parents expected Home Boiled instead of can. I didn't double check whether was the word can written on the menu or not
Leng Chi Kang - was alright but not much ingredients
Chee Cheong Fun - not nice
Yong Tau Foo - meat not fresh and just lacking the taste and is expensive
CKT - seems like everyone's favourite but not mine. Lack of wok hei taste and is kinda wet. Doesn't have the aromatic smell when it arrives to table. Paid for Special CKT but it came as picture. There are much better No Pork CKT around
On a weekend, there is no parking near by. If food is good, I don't mind parking far away and walk under the hot sun to this place.
Service wise need to be improved. Asked to remove the ice from glass, the lady gave a not so nice expression.
Cashier (lady) was friendly.
Won't return to try...
Read moreThe best place to have hawker foodies👌😋. Their char koay teow are the best just like in Penang. The owner are Penangnite. The chee chong fun are tasty. Oh try their Yong tau fu, it is so delicious. They made they own fishpaste for the Yong tau fu. It is not the factory made goey paste. Koay teow teng (koay teow soup) are good too, the soup are light & good to eat as comfort food when you are ill. My favourite is their local black coffee either it is kopi o ice or hot black coffee. Overall whatever in the menu all taste delicious. Price wise it reasonable. The staffs are attentive & friendly. So does the owner a Chinese lady from Penang. Whenever I feel like having Penang Chinese style food this is the place I will definitely go cos it worth my money...
