Checked this out because of good reviews and it’s near my hotel plus I haven’t eaten thai food for some time.
Arrived there at 130pm and many tables were not cleaned yet probably from the busy lunchtime and they have 3 staff. It’s great that they have online ordering with free wifi use so I wouldn’t have to wait and call the attention of their staff.
I ordered the set meal that’s available until 3pm (S802 Fried Hor Fun Chicken) and Mango Sticky Rice. The set meal comes with plain tom yum soup and lemon grass water. The noodle is softer than my liking and the taste is just ok. Saving grace was the tom yum because it’s flavorful. The lemongrass water was not served to me. I used the “call waiter” option online but no one came so I had to personally remind the staff.
In fairness, diners come and go so the staff seemed busy.
The sticky rice is a bit dry and hard and mango is a mixed of sour and sweet. I like the coconut cream though and the presentation.
3 stars is my honest feedback as a first time customer in this restaurant. If I were to visit KL again, I will go back and try their other dishes especially when I have companions. My orders were limited because I dined alone but surely I’d give them a second chance.
Btw, there’s a food freebie (am not familiar with the item) when diners write a review on google. I didn’t claim it though coz I’m reviewing this...
Read moreCompared to the food I ate in Thailand, the dishes on SOI55 were unfortunately quite poor in terms of taste. Especially the percentage of seafood was very low. For example, at the Pad Thai dinner, there were only 2 shrimps, while fried rice seafood was limited to 2-3 shrimps. The prices are not considered affordable, but despite this, the content was quite insufficient. I hope an improvement will be made in this regard.
One of the reasons why the restaurant's review scores are high may be the notes on the tables such as "If you give 5 stars and write a review, you will earn free drinks". This situation questions the reliability of the comments and it is not very pleasant.
I have mixed feelings about the service. A waiter who served us, who looked like a Malaysian, left the plates as if he were throwing them on the table and didn't say "bon appetit" even once. This behavior was really disturbing. On the other hand, other waiters and cashiers were very helpful and friendly....
Read moreI recently visited Soi 55, a stylish Thai restaurant that instantly transported me to the streets of Bangkok. The ambiance was modern yet cozy, with warm lighting and subtle Thai-inspired décor.
We started with the crispy spring rolls and papaya salad—fresh, zesty, and full of flavor. For mains, I had the Pad Thai with prawns while my friend ordered the Green Curry Chicken. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, with just the right kick of tamarind. The green curry was creamy, aromatic, and had a spicy warmth that lingered pleasantly.
Service was fast and friendly, and the staff were happy to tailor spice levels to our preferences. We ended the meal with mango sticky rice, which was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious.
Final Verdict: Soi 55 delivers authentic Thai flavors in a relaxed, contemporary setting. Great for casual dinners or catching up with friends.
