Came here for our team’s annual makan-makan (13 pax), and it was a great experience overall
Food: 9.5/10 This was my first fine dining experience, so it definitely left a strong impression. I chose the 7-course wagyu beef steak set. Everything had such a delicate texture and balanced flavour — not the most premium, but very fresh and satisfying. The staff asked each of us for our preferences, and since I don’t eat raw food, they kindly swapped my sashimi with tempura
Loved the appetisers. Salad was refreshing, mixed appetiser platter was fun, and chawanmushi was so good I ended up eating my friend’s too (she didn’t like hers). Tempura was light, crispy and not greasy at all — especially nice with the green tea salt on the side. The wagyu steak itself was tender and tasty, although the presentation felt a bit plain with just a white plate and the portion was on the small side. But with rice and soup, it was still filling. Dessert was a nice trio of ice cream, pudding, and cake — slightly too milky for my liking, but still satisfying. Oh, and I had at least 5 cups of the free flow green tea — very nice, warm and not bitter
Price: 8/10 Thanks to boss for belanja us! But for the overall quality and experience, the pricing feels fair and worth it
Service & Environment: 9.5/10 There was no one waiting at the entrance at first, since the glass is tinted and the entrance is located outside near valet parking, I was unsure about walking in. But the staff opened the door quickly and gave us a warm, cheerful welcome. The ambience inside was lovely — modern decor, soft lighting (not too dark), and we got a bright corner seat with natural light from the full glass wall. I really liked the bamboo-style dividers between tables that gave us privacy without feeling boxed in. Restroom was super clean and modern, with high-tech toilet features too
Parking: 9/10 Parking at The Gardens Mall was easy, but it was hard to locate the restaurant from inside the mall. The shop lots aren’t arranged in obvious lines, and the unit number doesn’t help much when you’re unsure of which wing you’re in. Luckily, I found it after some random walking — but do take note, it’s easier to access from...
Read moreHad the tasting lunch menu which was superb, fresh and inventive, with a delightful mix of many different flavors and small dishes that you don't usually get at typical Japanese restaurants! Staff also asked about dietary restrictions upfront, so the kitchen could accommodate your needs, two thumbs up!
Had grated mountain yam with ikura and wasabi, fresh sashimi, fried fish, a stewed oden veggie dish with konyaku, tamago, moreish spinach with earthy dried baby squid, refreshing side salad, all in the appetizers platter itself!
Appetizers was followed by a large bowl of chawanmushi with a twist, it's topped with tomato soup that elevated the chawanmushi to another level. Delightful from start to finish! The friendly waitress told me they sometimes use prawn broth instead of tomato soup, would love to try that next time!
Chose the hotplate seafood as the mains, the prawns, oysters, squid, salmon were fresh and oysters were melt in your mouth, superb!
Dessert for me accomodated my lactose-free requirement and was sweet rock melon, sour plum sorbet, with a floral sakura jelly that was sublime!
Staff were all genuinely friendly and positive, can't compliment them enough for their excellent world class service!
It was a perfect dining experience with superb fine-dining quality food and outstanding friendly warm service, at a price point that can't be beaten!
1000% would recommend to anyone looking for a...
Read moreWe were here for lunch in March 2019, ordered the Sou Lunch course at RM148++ per pax and Green Tea (RM 18). The service was good and attentive, the waitress explained everything dishes to us. Quiet environment, relaxing fine dining experience. We feel that this is definitely value for money, especially for Omakase Dining.
The Sou Lunch Course comes with 8 course including the dessert. I enjoyed every course of it and finished everything of every course (rare for me). Although the serving for each course looks small, but I think it is just nice. By the 5th course, I already feel full. I love the flavours profile of the food served, especially the soups, it always have multiple layers, keep making you want to have more of it. The only flaw we can find is the visual of the plates can be better, and the lighting is making taking good food photos difficult.
The entrance is next to St Giles Hotel, where it is on the right when walk out of The Gardens Mall at Dome Café side. Strongly recommend it and we'll definitely be...
