On January 29, 2025, at 10:30 PM, I dined at Zafran Restaurant, Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur and proceeded to make a payment of RM127.20 using my debit card. However, the restaurant staff informed me that they had not received the amount. Despite showing them the successful transaction confirmation from my debit card, they insisted that I make another payment via QR Pay, assuring me that Maybank would refund the original amount within seven (7) days. However, yesterday marked the seventh day, and I have not yet to receive any refund. I attempted to contact the restaurant, but I received no response. They have also ignored totally my WhatsApp messages. Consequently, I called Maybank's customer service hotline to verify whether my bank account was charged twice. The customer service representative confirmed that the payment was indeed deducted twice and advised me to submit this Dispute Form to resolve the matter.
My dissatisfaction is from the highly unprofessional staff who failed to communicate and update me regarding my transaction. Once they received the money and made their profit, they showed no concern whatsoever for their customers.
BEWARE!! If you have young children, this place is not suitable for you. Although there is an air-conditioned room available, they still allow people to vape inside, even when there were five other families with babies and young children present. The staff in charge of the air-conditioned room and those serving food clearly saw what was happening but they didn’t bother at all.
THIS IS THE LAST TIME. I WILL NEVER EVER COME TO THIS...

I’ve been coming to Zafran Restaurant almost every day after work for the past few years — mainly for the shisha, which is honestly one of the best around. That’s the main reason I keep coming back.
The overall vibe is chill, and it’s a familiar place for me — but I feel it’s time to point out a few things that could make Zafran even better.
👉 The Look & Feel Needs a Boost Compared to nearby places like Marakesh and the new restaurant, Zafran is starting to look a little worn out. But it doesn't need a full makeover — just simple repairs and a fresh coat of paint can really bring the place back to life.
👉 Food & Menu The food is still good, but the menu has been the same for years. Time for something new — fresh dishes, better plating, and updated presentation would be exciting for regulars like me.
👉 Drinks Consistency Drinks are okay, but consistency is an issue. A proper recipe SOP can help make sure every drink tastes the same every time.
👉 Staff & Uniform The staff are friendly enough, no complaints — but the pink uniforms could be improved. A more polished look would help boost the overall image of the restaurant.
💬 I’m saying this as someone who genuinely enjoys this place. Zafran has so much potential — small changes can make a big difference. I really hope the management takes this seriously and gives the place the refresh it deserves.
Still supporting you — just hoping to see Zafran reach the next...
Read moreI'd like to personally thank the owner of this restaurant for giving my mom, MyBoy and myself for a table for iftar. We walked in by chance under heavy rain since the next restaurant did not honour our reservation 😞
Under heavy downpour from afar he waved to us and welcome to his restaurant eventho the place was full of guests
He looked around for a table, asking one of the guest who was alone having shisa to join another guest who was alone having iftar.
Maghreb was already past about 10 minutes, upon ordering, we went for our Maghreb prayer. The owner assisted us to the musolla and apologies for the uprooted tree that blocked the way to take ablution. How nice of him to do that. Small gestures does brings a heap of respect.
As we came to our table after our prayers, the food arrived and we had a very good meal infront of us.
To say our utmost thanks, we ordered dessert and take away for sahoor.
Thank you so much for your hospitality, your staffs did their part as well.
May Allah reward you and your staff with greater rezki. Keep up the good work.
