It's times like this I regret not googling the establishment first. Aroi in KL is quite a decent place for Thai food. This one, oh, this one is a big miss.
Ambience: As you enter you are greeted with hindustan music (no offense to hindustan fans) but man.. I wanted a Thai restaurant. Oh, and the lack of a Thai chef (found out after the fact) only makes things worse.
The food? Hmmm, let's see... Here's what we ordered: Tom Yum - Bland and watered down, almost like they were trying to make bad curry. Lime and chili squid - no sour flavour, not spicey, a pool of red hued starchy liquid and squid rings the size of little children's fingers. The head and tentacles still HAD THEIR BEAKS IN THEM like don't you clean them first??? Deep fried soy fish - meh, soggy, uncrunchy, and just bland. Onion omelette - if the omelette is your "Thai" restaurant's saving grace, well, go figure.
Price: Hahahaha
No photos because it's not worth it to sour your eyes. I wouldn't even feed this to my worst enemy. In fact, if someone told me "Don't waste food, there are tons of starving people with no food", I would tell them to starve than eat this.
I'd give no stars at all if it wasn't for Google. You got off...
Read moreDO NOT go to this restaurant, service was beyond appalling, food was mediocre at best, go somewhere else, trust me.
I was shocked by the service that this place provided. We were sat down for about 5 minutes without anyone even bothering to come give us menus. We were then greeted with the best attitude ever! Joking, she was told off by another member of staff to come and serve us, to which she just stood there and stared at us in silence without any greetings and a pretentious attitude.
I thought, let's give them the benefit of the doubt, it could be a bad day that's fair. Went up to the counter to pay, stood there and was given the exact same attitude of just starin blankly and in silence at me. He just gave me the receipt without any care, furthermore, he then proceeded to make me wait with my cash in hand while he talked to another worker and did other things. No thank you, no goodbye, he took the cash and that was it. I'm surprised the restaurant still had 1/2 of its capacity filled, should be at most 1/16.
Sorry let me give constructive criticism. Mediocre food, but not...
Read moreWow, a bad review. I tend to follow Trip Advisers recommendations but was starving and went here. Big mistake.
Ordered sweet and sour chicken, sizzling beef, rice and watermelon drinks.
Beef was dry and serving too small (not much meat). It wasn't sizzling! Also had a smell of blood so not sure on that one. I'm guessing meat was old or frozen before cooking.
Chicken was OK but very mediocre. Could make a better one myself.
Drinks were good! +1 star.
Rice was dry.
Overall a very, very expensive restaurant that can't cook at the level they should be. They're trying to cover a wide range of foods without getting good at any. I was going to talk to them about the food but English seemed very poor.
Don't recommend. Far better places to eat on the...
