Recommended by our church friend. The atmosphere and surrounding was nice and relaxing. The restaurant was clean which make me feel more comfortable.
For food wise, I ordered the nasi lemak ayam berempah (whole chicken leg). The marination of the chicken is nice and flavorful. The spices was well balanced. When the chicken came to my table the spices form a thin and yet crispy crust and the chicken was deep fried till perfection. The chicken was moist and juicy. For the rice what I like is that the rice is cook evenly with rich coconut flavor with a shining coating of oil (I like rice to be individual). As for the sambal is not the ordinary nasi lemak sambal. It has a mild spicy flavor and not spicy which pair well the fragrant coconut rice and the chicken.
I also ordered the Shan Cheng white coffee ice. No doubt the price is a bit pricey but is worth it. The coffee is serve with a chocolate rose (very creative) when the chocolate melted and incorporated in to the coffee it create a taste like a mocha flavor which bring the flavor to the next level. The best was serve with dry ice effect when the server serve me the coffee
Overall is worth the price to pay with such a comfortable environment pairing with food that cook with heart and passion.
P/s There is a free deep fried sesame ball (3pcs) when you help to rate Shan Cheng Laksa in Google. It need 2 review in order to redeem the complimentary snack.
I highly recommend people to give it a try and I will comeback to try the Shan Cheng Laksa next time.

Read moreVisited the shop today. Tried only their signature laksa and truth be told, this dish might seen simple but the taste is light (due to mint) yet Aromatic and Rich (due to the pineapple bits). Laksa felt like singapore laksa without the oilyness, combine with penang laksa without feeling too savoury - so its in a way taking good point and reducing the cons of both dishes. Without knowing i drank up all the gravy inside my laksa. The environment felt more home based a very relaxing environment. Service makes u felt like calling the lady boss 'mum' (in a good way), the boss a young chap is humble and friendly makes one feels at home.
Pss pss their home make herbal tea really got the home taste not those too sweet kind and cooling.
Ipoh no doubt is famous for their begger chicken, white chicken, claypot chicken, salted baked chicken, biscuits. BUT i felt that this laksa shop is good enough for those who are sick of the famous dishes and are willing to give this shop a try.
Most importantly is open and operated by the local young ipoh hawker. So do drop by when u are nearby. No 10 of 10 also...
Read more山城 Laksa in Ipoh delivers a satisfying experience that feels worth the price, even though it’s on the higher side. The star of the menu is, of course, the laksa—with two variations to choose from: Asam Laksa and Siam Laksa. The Siam Laksa, with its unique curry twist, stands out as a flavorful and hearty option. Both versions feature a rich, aromatic broth, and you can actually spot bits of real fish meat, even though it’s finely blended. The soups taste as good as they look in the photos—comforting and full of depth.
The kaya butter toast is nicely done—crispy on the outside, with a satisfying balance of sweet and salty. Another nice touch is how they serve the soft-boiled eggs—already cracked open for you, which is a small but thoughtful detail (and possibly factored into the price).
Overall, 山城 Laksa offers a cozy, satisfying meal that justifies its slightly premium pricing with quality and care in...
