The service is good, the staff is helpful but they got one thing on our order wrong. Overall, the food quality can still be improved. Food is not very good. We ordered the carbonara, it was like soup and very bland. Not good at all. The chicken chop wasn't too bad. Chicken is still crispy and juicy on the inside. Got the grilled salmon and the fish was moist and tasty. The coleslaw on the side was mediocre. Not a fan of the sauce but it's not bad. They have cakes as well but didn't try any. The atmosphere is great 👍. Good place for hanging out or if you want to have a chill dinner.

Fast forward to 2024, August 17th : We come again because new look, new management I guess. Yet still disappointed, food was presentable but taste is so 👎. Nasi Goreng Chicken Chop had weird smell bad taste like card board, cannot finish it. Potato salad is bland, don't know wether it's salad or mashed potato. Only mushroom soup with garlic bread is OK. Need to improve more. I used to come here since 5 to 6 years ago. Everytime it was either awesome or just OK. But today I ordered fish n chip and I got frustrated. 1st because it came late (2 table after me already ate the same menu but I didn't get mine). After ask for few times n my food came. The vegetables is not fresh n coleslaw got some smell, i can tell its really smelly. And wonder why this time my fish n chip only got 1piece. I look at my next table (the 2table came after that order the same menu as me) they got 2pieces fish in their plate. Is it count by piece or gram I don't know but this is the 1st time I got just 1piece in my plate. I'm sorry if I say this, but The Gate Cafe is not that awesome cafe I'm used to visit past years. Please improve as Gate Cafe is already make a 'brand'.

Overall their food is just so so. Price wise is kind of over price if you may ask. Carbonara no taste, just watery cream. Their chicken chop that comes with it is just covered with flour and the meat is just 3mm I would say. Don’t let their pictures trick you 😉. Lamb shank is good, nice marination. But they serve with a whole lot of mash potatoes underneath I don’t know for what. The curry kapitan they have is good. The only food that is strong with traditional flavour and portion wise is just good for 1 person. Drinks i don’t recommend, we ordered manggo jug which cost about RM11.50 but no mango taste. In the end we need to order one more drink just to feel the satisfaction so we ordered crazy chocolate milkshake. This drink is nice but bit too sweet as their toppings are crazy. I can only say order at your own risk. In the end we paid about RM100++. So you get the idea.

Sandwich ayam bakar and they used chicken slice. so disappointing. Not worth it. I had sizzling octopus with rice as well. Portion is very small. There was only a few pieces of octopus. I would say around 5?? Taste wise is so-so. Good enough if you’re hungry but if you’re looking to have a good meal, definitely not recommended. There was also a foreign waitress who couldn’t speak Malay nor English. 😅😅 First and last coming here.

Salmon grill set was okay, portion is quite big.The mushroom soup was also nice despite the small portion of garlic bread. Service is good but the music from the speakers was almost noise as we can hardly get a decent conversation with one another. Could just lower the sound a bit, this is a restaurant not discotheque.

I asked if they can make coffee art because they display it in their menu. And their staff confidently said yes. But turn out, their art make me speechless 😂😂 they should trained their staff better to make a coffee art Overall the food is good. Cosy place to eat
