Ante truly delivered an unforgettable dining experience for our recent family get-together of twelve, with members joining us from all corners of the globe. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for a special evening. The helpfulness and attentiveness of the waiters and staff were truly remarkable; they navigated our large group with grace and efficiency, ensuring everyone felt well-cared for without being intrusive. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they handled various dietary requests with impressive ease.
While Ante is renowned for its pork, and rightly so, their other offerings also shone brightly. The lamb shoulder was a revelation – incredibly tender and flavorful, falling off the bone with the slightest touch. It was rich and aromatic, a delightful surprise that had even the most dedicated pork enthusiasts at our table raving.
Even seemingly simpler dishes like the bacon and lettuce salad were executed with finesse. The bacon was perfectly crispy and smoky, adding a wonderful depth of flavor that elevated the fresh, crisp lettuce and well-balanced dressing. It was a refreshing counterpoint to the richer dishes and a testament to Ante's commitment to quality ingredients even in their sides.
Of course, the star of the show for many was undoubtedly the pork steak. Cooked to perfection, it was juicy, succulent, and packed with flavor. The quality of the pork was evident, and the preparation highlighted its natural richness. Each bite was a delight, and it lived up to the restaurant's excellent reputation.
Beyond the exceptional food, the overall atmosphere contributed significantly to our enjoyable evening. The restaurant managed to be both sophisticated and welcoming, making it comfortable for our diverse group. The staff's genuine smiles and willingness to go the extra mile truly made us feel like valued guests.
Ante proved to be the ideal choice for our international family gathering. Back in those days when pork steak was not that popular yet, I had hard time to find a nice restaurant that can satisfy my craving. If you ask me why didn't I go to a proper steak house instead, I'd answer that I don't eat beef so pork is the next best option for me. When Ante opened its door for the first time, I was ecstatic to finally be able to feast on pork steak.
Positioned themselves as THE place to go for pork steak, I had been going to their first outlet in Publika for as long as I remember. Fast forward few years later and they made 1 Utama their second outpost which was a welcoming addition as I live nearby.
Sometimes I would bring a nice bottle of wine as it felt right to wine & dine.
◾Foccacia garlic bread - baked rosemary garlic bread topped with garlic spread and shaved cheese for the finale. ◾Popcorn chicken served with Japanese mayo, wedge of lemon and seaweed dusting. ◾cheese balls - rolled potato croquettes filled with mozzarella and parmesan cheese, and served with sriracha mayo. ◾bacon minestrone - if you were to ask me, it was really sad looking and unappetising when it was served.. different from their menu. However flavour was there and I wished that there were more ingredients in the soup. ◾Mac & cheese - oven baked macaroni with 3 types of cheese namely mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan. ◾Country pork stew - a hearty dish braised with boneless roasted pork, carrot and celery. Served with polenta and country bread. ◾Smoked bacon and polenta - hickory smoked 8mm thick cut bacon laid on top of creamy polenta and corn salsa. ◾ Olive-fed Pork Collar Steak - 300 gram slab of meat marinated with EVOO, thyme and garlic. Served with seasonal vegetables & chimichurri sauce ◾Iberico baby ribs - first time trying deep fried version of iberico ribs that are coated in spiced batter and glazed with thick honey soy. Garnished with caramelised garlic and spring onions.

The vibrant yellow Nasi Lemak elevated the whole dish; infused with turmeric and other milder spices, their “lemak” rice carries a tint of yellow and a whole lot of flavour. Pair it with their aromatic house-made sambal, toasted ikan bilis, refreshing pickled acar and you have a culinary experience that brings you right home, wherever you are. It’s been ages since I’ve had a good Nasi Lemak, and after savouring this HARAM nasi lemak 🤭🐽, I’m proud to call myself a Malaysian 🇲🇾 Creamy White Wine Seafood Stew - Giant sea prawns, calamari, mussels and king oyster mushrooms pan seared in white wine and stirred-in cream!! This is basically their version of seafood chowder which will leave you reeling in satisfaction 🤩 The seafood was super fresh and they came in XXL size!! Warm, rich and seductive, this stew is filled with mesmerising flavour! 🍤🍲 Cheese balls- Wasn’t a big fan of this as I could only taste the potato croquettes instead of the filling (mozzarella & Parmesan cheese) 🧀 It tasted more like mashed potato…the sriracha mayo was a life saviour as it added some flavour to it.
Overall, their kitchen staffs are very attentive as they actually read cooking instructions on foodpanda. Their price is also very reasonable given the portion & quality of food served 👍🏻 Their merdeka special Nasi Lemak is a must try (available till 31st August), so don’t wait and go...
