New Hao Yue Lou
The name Hao Yue Lou will ring a bell as they are one of the popular places for peng leng jeng dishes in Aman Suria. My few times eating there were nothing less than satisfying. That is also why I am ecstatic when they finally opened a proper restaurant - bigger & better - and aptly named "New" Hao Yue Lou 😁
Alfresco area takes majority spaces with air-conditioning section and private rooms are available, a big upgrade from the alfresco kopitiam style in Aman Suria.
Good thing is that their menu is brought over - copy & paste - and so are the prices! No increase in price at all.
◾Pork Ribs with BBQ sauce - a cross between roasted pork ribs and char siew but with double the goodness. Melt in the mouth. ◾Butter Chicken - dry style but I'm not complaining because the flavour hit the right spot for everyone. Cleaned up the fastest. ◾Pumpkin Taufu - expecting good flavour, the first feedback was "Pa, why got teh tarik taste geh?" I took a bite and indeed it was.. the sauce was a bit powdery too 🥲 ◾Fu Yong Fried Egg was lovely. ◾Bitter gourd fried egg - bitter gourd had a good texture and flavour was surprisingly quite good with wok hei. ◾Stir fried sweet potato leaves ◾Soup of the day which happened to be old cucumber soup
Total came in less than RM150 to my surprise, but do take note that all my dishes were...

New Hao Yue Lou Restaurant has moved from Aman Suria to a new, spacious and bright location. Their old spot was always packed for dinner, with long queues, so this move is a welcome change.
We went for a late lunch around 1 PM to avoid the crowd, and fortunately, there were tables available as some diners were leaving. However, service was slow, and it took about 10 minutes before someone came to take our order, possibly due to a shortage of staff on the floor.
That said, the food quality and portion sizes remain satisfying. We ordered: ✅ Vegetables Clay Pot Curry ✅ Steamed Teochew-Style Garoupa ✅ Fried Sweet Potato Leaves ✅ Black Pepper Lamb ✅ Yam Basket with Kung Po Chicken
I also like their Buttermilk Mantis Prawn, but they only serve the dried version, while I personally prefer the sauce-based version.
Overall, the taste remains consistent with their old location. There are still many more dishes to try, so I’ll definitely be back.
Parking Tip: Street parking is available, but expect a challenge during peak...
Read moreWe’ve been regulars at their first outlet at Aman Suria. Sadly that outlet is no longer operational.
Anyway, the new outlet is much nicer and much more comfortable, Plus it’s bigger! It’s brighter, cleaner, and air conditioned (perfect temp, not too chilly that your food gets cold within minutes of being served.
Speaking of food, everything is made to order, which guarantees freshness. Food is delicious across the menu. You can opt for single dishes with rice, or best, shared dishes. One dish that caught my tastebuds by surprise is their smoked chicken, it was Smokey, juicy and goes so well with their special sauce which is a bit tangy! Also, try their Mongolian pork, and Assam fish curry (request for the fish to be fried for added texture and taste!). Also, give Their chai poh taufoo (don’t be put off by the amount of garlic, it was surprisingly delicious!) a try!
Overall, this is a place where you would enjoy the food, especially if you’re with friends or family. It’s all about the food!
Bonus: for the price, I’d say it’s...
